Roebuck Estates, the West Sussex sparkling wine producer and official sparkling wine partner of Brighton & Hove Museums, is taking over The Royal Pavilion Rooms to create The Roebuck Sparkling Wine Bar – a dedicated English sparkling wine bar that will bring Roebuck’s exquisite range of vintage wines from the heart of the vineyard, to the heart of the city.
Open throughout July and August, the pop-up reimagines how people discover English sparkling wine – making Roebuck’s award-winning collection more accessible than ever by bringing it into the city for both wine lovers and new audiences. This is believed to be the first time that an English sparkling wine producer has created a long-standing, dedicated English sparkling wine bar, reflecting the growing ambition of the English sparkling wine industry as its finest producers take their wines to new audiences and occasions.
The vineyard, reimagined for the city
At Roebuck’s home vineyard in Petworth, visitors can enjoy vintage sparkling wines against the panoramic backdrop of the Sussex Downs. This summer, that experience travels south – not a replica of the vineyard itself, but as a translation of everything that makes it special: the quality of the wines, the warmth of the welcome, and the pride in what English sparkling wine has become.
The Roebuck Sparkling Wine Bar will open within The Royal Pavilion Rooms, located next door to the Royal Pavilion itself and accessible via the Royal Pavilion Gift Shop, where visitors will also be able to buy bottles of Roebuck to take home. The bar’s front terrace, with a direct view onto the Royal Pavilion, will also be open – offering one of the most striking settings in the city in which to enjoy a glass of vintage Sussex fizz.
All four wines from Roebuck’s Classic Collection will be available by the glass, bottle and selected vintages by magnum, alongside curated wine flights for guests who want to explore a trio of Roebuck’s vintage sparkling wines. Throughout the summer, Roebuck will also partner with local restaurants and food producers to host a series of evening events celebrating Brighton & Hove’s food and drink scene, with further details to be announced.
Opening hours
The Roebuck Sparkling Wine Bar will be open Wednesday to Sunday, from midday until 9pm, with later closing times at weekends.
A natural next step for a Sussex producer
As the official sparkling wine partner of Brighton & Hove Museums, Roebuck Estates has been part of the city’s cultural fabric for some time. The Roebuck Sparkling Wine Bar deepens that relationship, also drawing on wider partnerships with the likes of Sussex Cricket to reinforce Roebuck’s identity as a producer rooted in – and proud of – its county.
“English sparkling wine has never been more exciting, and we want more people to experience it – not just those who can make the journey to the vineyard,” says Michael Kennedy, CEO of Roebuck Estates. “Brighton & Hove is one of the most vibrant food and drink destinations in the country, and bringing the story and quality of Roebuck to The Royal Pavilion Rooms this summer feels like a very natural next step.
“We hope people will come and discover what we do in a setting that’s every bit as special as our vineyard in Petworth.”
