Sapling Spirits expands retail footprint with super premium vodka launch in Sainsbury’s

Sapling SpiritsSapling Spirits, the super premium climate positive spirits brand, is set to launch its Naturally Smooth Sapling Vodka into 171 Sainsbury’s stores across the UK, marking a significant step in its wider UK retail expansion.

Launching on 19th April, the Naturally Smooth Sapling Vodka is crafted from organic premium winter wheat and distilled four times, before being blended with charcoal filtered, deionised water. The result is a clean, crisp vodka with a naturally smooth, slightly sweet finish. The vodka has earned multiple industry awards, reflecting both its quality and the strength of Sapling’s sustainability-led approach.

Sapling Spirits was co-founded by Ed Faulkner and Ivo Devereux in 2018 following a community tree planting project in Scotland, where they identified a gap for a spirits brand that could operate with genuine environmental responsibility, while still producing high quality spirits for contemporary consumers.

A certified B Corp since 2022, Sapling plants a tree for every bottle sold, with over 500,000 planted to date and a goal of one million by 2027. Its refill schemes and alternative packaging formats have also prevented the production of more than 300,000 glass bottles, reinforcing its commitment to more responsible production.

Ivo Devereux, co-founder of Sapling Spirits says: “From the beginning, our goal has been to create a product that is as pure as the earth intended. Partnering with Sainsbury’s is a natural step for us, their commitment to sustainability, focus on quality, and premium shopper base make them an ideal partner. We’re incredibly proud to be working with a retailer that shares our vision, and excited to see Sapling on shelves across the UK.”

Lauren Battrick, senior spirits buyer at Sainsbury’s says: “We’re excited to be welcoming Sapling Vodka to our shelves this spring. It’s a great quality product with a strong sustainability story that we believe will appeal to Sainsbury’s shoppers”

The Naturally Smooth Sapling Vodka will be available in 171 Sainsbury’s stores across the UK. To mark the launch, Sapling Spirits has partnered with Big Green Egg to offer shoppers the chance to win one of four MiniMax BBQ’s alongside a selection of Sapling merchandise.
