Spring GDS is gearing up for Golden Quarter by hiring for seven additional positions including health and safety experts in its key UK sites. Also turning five of its temporary staff into permanent team members as the cross-border logistics and e-commerce  specialist gears up for Festive season.

PostNL’s international subsidiary is on a mission to engage and retain British talent as it continues to invest in its UK operations. Coming after the opening of Spring GDS’ new UK hub at London Heathrow. Also the expansion of its operation at Haydock earlier this year.

Indeed, the company is also committed to making great and safe place for staff to work in the busy winter months. Also investing near six figures in:

  • A revamped staff canteen at Heathrow
  • Sustainable heating in key sites at Heathrow and Haydock
  • Warmer clothing for the staff  as the winter months draw in
  • Improving its policies on matters such as fertility support and sabbatical leave

With recent Manpower figures showing that 76% of UK employers seeking talent in transport, logistics and automotive are facing skills shortages, Spring GDS, which has employee engagement rates of (95%) is also hosting regular Townhalls to create social and professional bridges between Operations and Office staff. Hearing additional ideas from all of its team members on how to make work as safe and fulfiling as possible.

Kelly van der Weg, managing director of Spring Global Delivery Solutions UK, said: ‘It is apparent that the UK has the potential to become a still more important hub for international e-commerce providers seeking routes into Europe and the USA.  Yet, behind every delivery there are real people showing up to do their best every day. Rather than being held back by skills shortages, we want to attract, inspire and retain some of the best talent in the market. Particularly during the busy Golden Quarter. That means we need to look after talent at busy times. Empowering staff and listening to their perspective on what will make their working lives happier and more fulfiling.’

The company has already reinforced its sales, marketing and business development teams with three new hires in recent months. Also across entry level and operational positions.
