Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) has today announced the signing of seven new retailers for Croydon’s Centrale and Whitgift centres, alongside eleven lease renewals from existing brands.
Adding to the diverse retail and amenities mix in Croydon, the new brands announced today include beauty bar Adara Beauty; Dressmode, women’s clothing store offering preowned items; Maflora, local apparel and accessories shop from Flora Lyimo, owner of the Whitgift-based women’s fashion shop Mbuta Nanga; Pinball Republic, a pinball club working in partnership with the Council; Rebel Clothing, a men and women’s clothing brand; and homewares and apparel brand Stacks.
With over 200,000sq ft of renewals across both centres, several other brands have re-established their commitment to Croydon as a key retail destination. This includes British property pioneer Fraser’s Group, with department store House of Fraser and Sports Direct, one of the UK’s biggest sports retailers, also on the roster of renewals.
Other renewals include photography service Art Impress; major accessories brand Claire’s Accessories; charity shop Conditions, who provide low-cost studio programmes for artists; picture shop Frame Express; Italian furniture retailer House to Home; Holland & Barrett, the international chain of health food shops with over 1,300 stores; Starbucks and Waterstones.
Jason Perry, Executive Mayor of Croydon, commented: “We welcome the latest lease signings at Centrale & Whitgift shopping centres and the interest Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield is seeing from existing and new retailers wishing to invest in our town centre. Croydon Urban Room, opened in the heart of the town centre, is perfectly placed to engage with local residents, businesses and community groups, as we work together to develop a vision for a vibrant and welcoming town centre where people want to live, work and visit.”
