Britain’s largest bakery brand, Warburtons, has added two new products to its category leading Protein range; Protein Soft Pittas and Protein Flatbreads. Both products are baked with a blend of pulse flours and linseed, include 8 grams of protein per product, as well as being high in fibre and vegan.
Over the last few years, consumer interest in protein-rich products has grown, with research revealing that 1 in 3 shoppers look for foods that are high in protein[1]. Warburtons has seen just that, with demand for its existing Protein range, which includes Protein Thin Bagels and Protein Power Loaf, going from strength to strength with volume sales growing by 33% and 124% respectively (latest 12 weeks vs last year).
Protein Soft Pittas
Warburtons has become the number one pitta brand in the UK following the success of Warburtons’ Soft Pittas range which includes white, wholemeal and gluten free. Given the popularity of the range, Warburtons is introducing a fourth product: Protein Soft Pittas. They have a soft, fluffy texture and an authentic taste which can be warmed in the toaster, or enjoyed cold, creating a convenient and versatile addition that works as part of almost any meal. The product is perfect for filling, dipping or enjoyed toasted on its own as a snack. The four pack of Protein Soft Pittas come in at just 151 calories each with 8g of protein per pitta.
Protein Flatbreads
Packed full of flavour, the Protein Flatbreads are perfect for a sandwich or meal accompaniment, can be enjoyed cold or toasted to perfection and come pre-sliced for convenience. The four pack of Protein Flatbreads come in at just 147 calories each with 8g of protein, and are high in fibre.
Jonathan Warburton, chairman of Warburtons, said: “Bakery is an essential part of a healthy balanced diet, and providing consumers with new, exciting products, with additional nutritional benefits is really important to us. We have seen our existing Protein range grow in popularity over the last 12 months and our new products, which taste great (if I do say so myself), will offer consumers even more choice, great quality, and 8gr of protein in each one!”
“Introducing Protein Soft Pittas and Protein Flatbreads to our Protein range further illustrates our commitment to innovation and our desire to exceed consumers expectations in the quality, taste and offering of our products.“
The Protein Soft Pittas and Flatbreads will be on shelves in Tesco and Iceland from 2nd September with an RRP of £1.50 and £1.75 respectively, and in Co-op, Asda, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s later in September.
