DFS drives growth and improves retail experience with Fluent Commerce

DFS, the UK’s no. 1 sofa manufacturer and retailer, has chosen Fluent Commerce’s order management system (OMS) to underpin the development of DFS’s home fulfilment program.

DFS is the leading retailer of sofas in the UK with a 50 year heritage. Headquartered in Doncaster, it has 118 shops in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, as well as its leading web platform. One of the UK’s most visible retail brands, DFS is often an anchor tenant driving significant footfall to destination retail parks. Fluent’s OMS will support the brand as it expands its non-sofa business, allowing it to scale up or down efficiently to meet customer demand.

“Fluent Order Management is a key component of our strategic growth plans,” said Dean Darby, Head of Central Systems and Application Development at DFS. “It will allow us to use third party logistics companies to deliver our Beds & Mattresses and stocked items – an area of the business which we are looking to grow significantly over the next 5 years. ”

The new solution will offer DFS a single view of inventory, allowing them to implement return from anywhere and fulfil from anywhere. Customers will be able to see improved stock levels and availability when placing orders online. In addition DFS will be able to scale up when demand increases to provide a more efficient and informative delivery process for the customer. Wunderman Thompson is leading the integration of the solution into DFS’s existing architecture to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.

Rob Shaw, SVP global sales at Fluent Commerce, concluded: “The fact that another leading retail brand has chosen to deploy our OMS, is testament to the ROI it delivers. As the cost of living crisis continues to bite, retailers must focus on delivering a seamless, customer experience, and maximising every sales opportunity. Technology plays a critical role.”
