Klarna is the only bank among ChatGPT Enterprise launch customers

Klarna, the AI-powered payments network and shopping assistant, has once again taken the lead in AI-adoption as one of the first early leaders deploying ChatGPT Enterprise, which brings the power of AI to all Klarna employees with beefed-up security, higher-speed and advanced data analysis capabilities.

When ChatGPT launched in November 2022, Klarna co-founder and CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski immediately saw the potential and reached out to OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Sebastian promised Sam he wanted Klarna to be OpenAI’s “best customer”. Since then, Klarna became the first fintech globally and the first European company in any sector to launch the ChatGPT plugin.

But a huge opportunity still lies in getting everyone who works at Klarna to use the power of AI in their day-to-day work. “When I come to work, I focus solely on how AI can help us

realize our vision faster,” says Siemiatkowski.

For internal use, Klarna has implemented OpenAI’s API which offers higher speeds, better availability and enterprise-level data security than the consumer-focused ChatGPT. 2,500 Klarna employees (Klarnauts) now have access to the API and are using the technology in a wide variety of use-cases, from AI-powered shopping recommendations to streamlining customer service.

“One of the things I’m following closely right now is exactly how many of our employees are using their Open AI account. We are currently at 2,500 out of 5,000 employees. So even though we push everyone to test, test, test and explore, still only 50 percent of our employees use it daily. That’s why we have to find new ways to get more people to use OpenAI’s fantastic tech,” said Sebastian.

ChatGPT Enterprise will give everyone at Klarna access to the power of OpenAI, in the familiar and easy-to-use ChatGPT interface, with protected company data.

Following the news, Klarna CEO, Sebastian Siemiatowski, said:

“At Klarna, we are constantly seeking innovative solutions to strengthen our employees’ abilities and enable them to best serve our 150 million active users across the globe. With the integration of ChatGPT Enterprise, we’re aimed at achieving a new level of employee empowerment, enhancing both our team’s performance and the customer experience.”

In addition to working with ChatGPT Klarna has also developed and adopted its own AI-based tools and features into its platform. The Klarna app is now powered by an AI-product recommendation engine to help consumers find and shop items most relevant to them. The feed updates in real time with a range of products and deals, and it becomes increasingly personalised as it learns more about users’ preferences.
