The BioPak Group, a global leader in sustainable foodservice packaging, has announced the appointment of Guy Brent as chief executive officer, effective February 2, 2026.

Brent joins BioPak after 14 years with the Woolworths Group, where he was instrumental in several senior leadership roles leading world-class brands such as Cellarmasters, Pinnacle Drinks, BWS and the Woolworths Food Company.

Most recently, Brent was managing director of the Woolworths Food Company, spearheading large, complex food production and food service operations, driving private label brands and product development including sustainable packaging solutions. He has a strong track record of driving innovation, working closely with suppliers and customers across the food system.

Following the appointment, the BioPak Board commented on the new leadership position as a pivotal chapter for the company.

“We are delighted to welcome Guy Brent to BioPak as CEO. His proven people-first leadership approach, strategic focus and track record of delivering outstanding commercial performance make him exceptionally well-placed to lead the business through its next phase of growth,” said the BioPak Board.

In his new role, Brent will lead the company’s strategic growth, innovation, and operational excellence, all while championing purpose-led advocacy to accelerate circular solutions and drive systemic change.

The next chapter for the company will focus on scaling and accelerating BioPak’s sustainability leadership on the global stage, while staying true to its founding mission to build regenerative, circular solutions that give materials new life at every stage.

Commenting on the new appointment, Guy Brent said he is excited to join the organisation at a significant time of growth for the company.

“I’m honoured and incredibly proud to be appointed CEO of BioPak,” said Brent.

“BioPak’s genuine commitment to sustainability, and its track record of leading positive change in the packaging industry, is truly compelling. It’s rare to find a business where purpose and performance are so closely aligned, driving strong growth, and I am excited to capitalise on this momentum.”

“With a strong foundation, clear purpose and significant opportunities ahead, I look forward to working with the team to deliver long-term value for our customers, partners and broader stakeholders, building upon the founding values, entrepreneurial spirit and unwavering commitment to protecting the environment.”

Brent succeeds former CEO and co-founder, Gary Smith, who has concluded his executive role as CEO. Gary’s vision and leadership have been key drivers of BioPak’s business performance, to date.

Established in 2006 by co-founders Gary Smith and Richard Fine, BioPak was built on the belief that business can be a force for good. Today, it is a globally recognised leader in sustainable foodservice packaging, helping businesses transition to circular, low-impact solutions.
