Aldi The UK’s leading discount supermarket is cutting prices across its Easter range as it prepares to sell nearly 17.5 million Easter eggs over the coming weeks.

The £16 million investment will see prices reduced on key product lines, including champagne, prosecco, branded and own-label confectionary.

Nicolas De Montbart Champagne Brut will retail at £9.99, while Spumante Prosecco DOC drops to £4.69 – representing 29% and 11% price cuts respectively. Branded Easter eggs from Cadbury, including Freddo, Mini Eggs and Buttons, will be available at 99p, a 40% reduction.

Alongside showstopping centrepieces, Aldi has confirmed it won’t be beaten on the price of Easter vegetables – including carrots, swede and parsnips from just 4p – with the supermarket expecting to sell nearly 10 million units across its Super 6 range over the Easter week alone.

Julie Ashfield, chief commercial officer at Aldi UK, said: “With Easter falling earlier this year, we’re already seeing strong demand across our seasonal range.

“Easter is a time where families can come together to celebrate, and our recent price cuts mark our promise to shoppers that they will make significant savings each time they shop with us. From our bestselling Specially Selected Luxury Fruited Hot Cross Buns to roast dinner essentials, there’s incredible savings to be had at Aldi over the Easter holiday.”

Aldi has committed to having the lowest prices on traditional Easter items while maintaining its agreements with British farmers and suppliers. The supermarket is keeping prices low on dinner essentials including British Pork Loin Joint (£3.75 per kg), British Prime Gammon Joint (£3.99 per kg) and Whole Legs of Lamb (£5.95 per kg).
