pickled onion themed pop-upCalling all pickled onion connoisseurs, a London bar is set to embark on one of the capital’s most unusual drinks menus this December, mixing a foodie favourite with a unique range of cocktails and perfect pours.

Garner’s Pickles have announced the world’s first pickled onion cocktail bar, set to open its doors in the run up to Christmas. The “Garner’s Jar Bar”, an unconventional pop-up packed with the ultimate taste and crunch, is set to be top of the list for any pickled onion lover to take their love to the next level.

The bar will take over the luxury setting of award-winning Bar Swift in Shoreditch, a sophisticated cocktail haunt set across two levels, where skilled mixologists combine premium spirits with seasonal ingredients and innovative techniques, offering the perfect location for guests to enjoy the yule-brine. The bar was ranked as the 6th best cocktail bar in the UK, by Top 50 cocktail bars, previously being named as one of the top 50 bars in the world.

Pickled garnishes have gone viral on TikTok, Dua Lipa took social media by storm creating a viral drink mixing pickle juice with diet coke. A pickled gherkin elevates a Bloody Mary, whilst pickleback shots have become the go-to party pleaser, so this season there is no better time to go out and pickle the town red with their tangy twin – the pickled onion.

The “Garner’s Jar Bar” will see drinks expertly mixed from jar to glass, with mixologists crafting a new range of festive tipples, using every element of Garner’s premium jars – including brine, pickled onion syrups, infused spirits. Drinkers can expect sweetness and a bit of festive spice from the surprise menu, to get into the Christmas spirit.

Crafted for a range of palettes depending on how adventurous bar-goers are feeling on the day, the drinks can truly take guests on a pickled onion journey – giving them food for thought, quite literally, for their own home-mixology to wow guests during the holidays.

Elaine Miller, marketing director at Garner’s said: “Garner’s is the gift that keeps on pickling and this Christmas we are sharing our premium pickles in a way never seen before.

“The Garner’s Jar Bar is going to be open for lovers of cocktails – and of pickled onions, of course.“The bar will take on some of the famous pickled onion cocktail serves, with one even served straight from a Garner’s jar in a luxury setting.

“Pickled onions have been adding a tang and crunch to sandwiches and stealing the show from cheese boards for years, so it was only a matter of time before they crashed the cocktail party. Turns out, they mix just as well with gin as they do with Gorgonzola.

“Prepare for expertly mixed creations served straight from jar to glass – a one-of-a-kind experience for the most wonderful brine of the year”

The Garner’s Jar Bar is open from 3pm – 11pm on Friday 5 December and is available to book here:
