Ali’s Nisa Royston unveils store transformation with focus on Co-op Own Brand

Ali’s Nisa Royston store in Glasgow has undergone a major transformation, delivering a revitalised shopping experience for its community, with a strong focus on the award-winning Co-op Own Brand range.

Store owner Raheem Ali Razaq has invested significantly in a full refit that includes a redesigned store layout, enhanced product range, and modernised in-store branding. Key improvements include striking new internal graphics, a 3D fascia, and bold window vinyls that showcase the store’s fresh, professional look.

A major highlight of the revamp is the increased presence of Co-op Own Brand products throughout the store. Clear shelf-edge labelling, branded gondola ends, and eye-catching signage have been introduced to help customers easily identify the great value and trusted quality that Co-op products offer. In addition, the store has significantly expanded its chilled range, incorporating more Co-op products and a wider selection of soft drinks to meet customer demand.

The transformation also includes new technology to improve both the shopping experience and security. A 65-inch digital media screen has been installed at the store front to advertise offers to passing customers, complemented by in-store digital screens showcasing promotions and community news.

Advanced AI theft detection technology has also been introduced, provided by RETaiL AI, adding an extra layer of protection for staff and shoppers alike.

Further enhancing the offer for local shoppers, the store features a Post Office and a thriving Food to Go section, providing essential services and fresh, convenient meal options under one roof.

Store owner Raheem, who officially took over running the family business in December 2024 after it was previously operated by his brother since 2004, said:

“Our customers love the Co-op range – it’s one of the most recognised and trusted brands in the UK, and we’ve made it a key part of our offer. We’ve worked hard to make it more visible across the store, and the feedback has been fantastic.

“We’re proud to serve our local area and this investment reflects that. It’s not just about new signage – it’s about offering the right range, improving security, and creating a store our community can feel proud of.

“I’d also like to thank Robin from High Tech Media for the brilliant digital media screens, and our hardworking staff whose efforts have been vital in delivering this transformation.”

To support the relaunch, Raheem has commissioned billboard advertising in high-footfall areas, including near Celtic Park, and signed the store up to Co-op’s Peckish delivery app to offer even more convenience for local shoppers.

The store will celebrate the transformation with a Community Day at the end of June, inviting customers to come and see the improvements and thank them for their continued support.

The refit was supported by Co-op Wholesale, with dedicated teams assisting in merchandising and store design to ensure the latest standards were delivered across the board.
