An update on Criteo’s integration with OpenAI

Since becoming OpenAI’s first advertising technology partner, Criteo has continued to expand access to AI-native advertising experiences within ChatGPT, helping brands connect with consumers at moments of high intent and discovery.

Today, over 2,000 brands are advertising on ChatGPT through Criteo, demonstrating the platform’s ability to drive adoption among existing clients and net-new advertisers.

Following launches in the United States, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, advertisers in the United Kingdom, Japan and South Korea can now access ChatGPT Ads inventory through Criteo. We are seeing continued advertiser growth in these markets week over week, reflecting growing global demand for advertising opportunities within conversational AI experiences.

Apparel, home furnishings, consumer electronics, automotive and beauty have emerged as the leading categories running ads in ChatGPT through Criteo, underscoring strong consumer engagement across key commerce verticals.

ChatGPT Ads inventory is also now available through Criteo’s self-service, cross-channel performance platform Criteo GO, expanding access for small and mid-sized businesses.

Enhancing performance with prompt smart ads

As consumers increasingly discover products through conversational AI, advertisers need creatives that can adapt dynamically to intent, context, and the flow of the conversation while preserving control over their data and brand assets.

By combining catalog data, commerce intelligence, and prompt-level insights, Criteo’s Prompt Smart Ads capability automatically generates optimised ad creatives and product description tailored to the context of a consumer’s query.

Early testing shows that ad campaigns in ChatGPT using Prompt Smart Ads generate approximately 4x higher spend after activation, helping advertisers improve campaign delivery, complete budgets more efficiently, and scale investment within ChatGPT.

As advertisers look to maximise results in conversational AI environments, Prompt Smart Ads is emerging as a key differentiator for Criteo.

New insights into the AI shopping journey

With consumers increasingly turning to AI assistants to discover, research and evaluate products, Criteo continues to see strong performance from ChatGPT Ads traffic.

Conversion rates continue to outperform other referral channels, while click through rates are consistently two to three times higher than comparable formats in other environments. In addition, more than 80% of ad-driven ChatGPT Ads traffic comes from new customers, highlighting the platform’s increasing importance as a discovery engine for brands.

These results reinforce the growing role of conversational AI in the path to purchase, helping consumers move seamlessly from discovery and consideration to transaction while creating new opportunities for advertisers to engage and convert consumers.

As this ecosystem continues to evolve, Criteo remains focused on helping ensure advertising within ChatGPT is useful, relevant and aligned with how people naturally explore, research and make decisions.
