AS Watson Group appoints CEO and deputy CEO of Marionnaud Group

AS Watson Group - PeopleAS Watson Group has announced the appointments of Kulvinder Birring as CEO of Marionnaud Group and Gabriele Betti as deputy CEO of Marionnaud Group, a subsidiary of CK Hutchison Holdings.

Kulvinder Birring was appointed CEO of Watsons China in 2018. Before that, he had led Watsons operations as managingdirector of Malaysia and Indonesia. In his newappointment as CEOof Marionnaud Group, he will manage the Marionnaud’s portfolio of over 730 O+O (offline plus online) stores in eight markets, which is one of the leading luxury perfumeries & cosmetics retailers in Europe. Leadership team of Marionnaud, including Gabriele Betti and Emilio Leon, will work seamlessly with Kulvinder Birring in his new role.

Under his leadership, he has successfully repositioned the Watsons brand as the top retailer in our category nationwide with a portfolio of over 3,800 O+O stores. He has led the organisation through a remarkable cultural transformation, fostering a scientific, collaborative, agile, and growth- oriented mindset.”

“Despite operating in a highly competitive retail market in Mainland China, his team has demonstrated resilience and a relentless drive for innovation, continuously enhancing the customer experience. I look forward to him bringing his experience to lead the growth strategy in our luxury perfumeries and cosmetics retail brand Marionnaud in Europe,” said Dominic Lai, Group Managing Director of AS Watson Group and Executive Director of CK Hutchison.

“I would like to warmly thank Kulvinder for his great contributions to Watsons China in the past eight years.

Gabriele Betti, currently serving as managing director, Marionnaud France, Italy and Central Europe, will be promoted to Deputy CEO of Marionnaud Group.

Lai is delighted to announce the appointment: “Gabriele has been serving Marionnaud for 16 years, with experience in leading supply chain, technology, and commercial, before taking up management roles in Italy and subsequently in France, as well as a wider portfolio including Romania, Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia. He has demonstrated strong customer-focused management, and places customers and people at the heart of the company. He successfully led the digital transformation of integrating O+O capabilities to further strengthen the customer experience. In his new role, Gabriele will work closely with Kulvinder to drive progress in the Marionnaud Group.”

The appointments are effective from April 2024.
