Asda is making personalised weight management support more accessible by launching a face-to-face weight loss service in 19 of its pharmacy stores from 1 July, giving eligible customers the choice of expert in-person consultations alongside its existing nationwide Asda Online Doctor offering.
The pilot marks the first-time customers will be able to access face-to-face consultations with specially trained pharmacists in-store, building on the success of Asda Online Doctor, which has already supported more than 800,000 patients through over three million private consultations.
The move follows growing demand for more personalised support, with feedback from customers highlighting a desire for face-to-face consultations alongside the existing online service. The new service combines the convenience of online booking with the reassurance of face-to-face care.
As with the online service, each consultation is tailored to the individual, helping customers build a realistic and sustainable approach to weight management through personalised advice on nutrition, exercise and healthy lifestyle changes.
The face-to-face service will be offered at the same price as Asda Online Doctor’s existing weight management service, providing customers with greater choice in how they access expert support.
Faye Breckons, director of healthcare services at Asda, said: “At Asda, we’re committed to making healthcare more accessible, and we know that when it comes to weight management there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. While our Online Doctor service already supports thousands of patients, we’ve heard from both customers and colleagues in our pharmacies that many people would welcome the opportunity to access expert advice in person before choosing what’s right for them.
“By introducing face-to-face consultations with our specially trained pharmacists, we’re giving customers more choice in how they access weight management support, combining personalised clinical care with the reassurance of ongoing support throughout their journey.
The pilot is launching in 19 Asda pharmacy stores across the UK from 1 July with plans roll out to further stores. Anyone wishing to book an appointment, can do so via Asda Pharmacy website here.
