Believ launches partnership with 9Yards across top UK retail parks

BelievElectric vehicle (EV) charge point operator (CPO) Believ has partnered with 9Yards to install state-of-the-art ultra-rapid, fully accessible EV charge points across 12 of its retail parks nationally. The partnership will deliver a total of 96 charging bays, backed by more than £10 million Believ investment offering customers reliable, high-speed charging at convenient, accessible retail locations.

Accessible for all. Powering change.

All charge points installed through the partnership will be fully accessible, ensuring inclusive access for all drivers. The partnership will deliver both environmental and social value, further strengthening the retail parks’ customer offer while contributing to the national public charge point infrastructure.

Six of the retail parks will also feature co-branded solar canopies, providing shelter for a comfortable charging experience and showcasing 9Yards’ ambition to integrate renewable energy into the customer journey.

Full-service EV rollout. Fully funded.

Installation of the user-friendly, state-of-the-art charge points across these locations is scheduled to begin in late 2026. Believ will provide an end-to-end service, from site assessment and grid connection to installation, operation and long-term maintenance, with all works fully funded by the CPO.

Prime retail parks. Perfect charging stops.

The 9Yards sites span a diverse range of high-traffic retail destinations across the UK, including Croydon, York, Dunfermline, Newbury, Northampton, Preston, Shrewsbury, Stevenage, Taplow and Worthing. Each site hosts a strong mix of retail and hospitality brands such as Boots, Costa Coffee, DFS, IKEA, Lidl, M&S, McDonalds, Nandos and Next, making them ideal situations for charging on site.

Guy Bartlett, CEO at Believ, says the retail sector has a key role to play in the UK’s transition to electric mobility: “As the EV market continues to expand, customer expectations around charging are rapidly evolving. By embedding accessible, ultra-rapid charging into its retail destinations, 9Yards is helping to shape the future of customer experience while supporting wider environmental goals.

“Our fully funded model means they can achieve this at scale without the financial or operational burden, and with confidence in a long-term, expertly managed solution.”

Ian Rusbridge, co-head of asset management at 9Yards, adds: “We are excited to partner with Believ on the rollout of an ultra‑rapid EV charging facility across our portfolio.

“Believ’s robust financial backing and experience gave us the confidence they can deliver. Their property team has been collaborative throughout the process.  This new EV operation provides further amenities at each park for the benefit of the visitors to the retail parks.”

This partnership reinforces Believ’s position as a trusted delivery partner for the retail property sector, enabling landowners and retail operators to accelerate EV adoption at scale, without upfront cost or complexity.
