Britain’s returns crisis costs businesses millions as industry leaders unite to find new revenue from returned goods

Every day, thousands of perfectly good products are unnecessarily written off, heavily discounted or destroyed, despite retaining significant recoverable commercial value. As returns continue to rise across retail, logistics, manufacturing and ecommerce, industry leaders will be coming together this September to discuss how businesses can transform one of their largest operational costs into a profitable revenue stream.

With returns now the fastest-growing costs facing retailers, manufacturers, and e-commerce businesses, the financial impact of processing returns continues to rise due to increased transport costs, limited warehouse space available, and valuable stock tied up for weeks before a decision is made on its future. Yet despite the financial pressure, many organisations still treat returns as a back-office operational issue rather than a strategic commercial opportunity.

The launch of this new event, “From Returns to Revenue” will enable leaders across the returns and recommerce sector to find practical solutions to stop six of the biggest commercial challenges facing modern supply chains today – rising returns costs, unnecessary product write-offs, circular economy strategy, supplier selection, changing customer expectations and maximising value recovery through recommerce.

Richard Tucker, partner at The Logistics Leaders Network, said: “Businesses are under increasing pressure to reduce costs, improve customer experience and demonstrate measurable sustainability outcomes. Reverse logistics now sits at the centre of all three. We have created a Meet the Buyer event because senior decision-makers want a more focused way to identify proven solutions, meet the right partners and accelerate change. This isn’t another exhibition – it’s about creating meaningful business conversations that deliver measurable commercial value and start to build a community.”

In partnership with Circular Connect and headline sponsor Unipart, the Logistics Leaders Network, are bringing together suppliers and delegates in the UK’s first Reverse Logistics and Circular Economy event.  Running from 22–23 September 2026 in Oxford this September, “From Returns to Revenue” features two uniquely connected sessions; a conference and a Meet the Buyer forum.
