Chipotle Mexican Grill today announced it is introducing its Hand-Crafted Quesadilla as a digital-only menu item in the United Kingdom. For years, the Quesadilla has been one of the most talked about Chipotle menu items on social media, and now following its success in the U.S. and Canada, fans across the U.K. can experience Chipotle’s real, responsibly sourced ingredients without artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives in an entirely new way.
Chipotle’s Quesadilla is filled with Monterey Jack Cheese and freshly prepared with Chicken, Steak, Carnitas, Barbacoa, Sofritas, or Fajita Veggies. The flour tortilla is folded and pressed using a new custom oven in Chipotle’s Digital Kitchen, which melts the cheese perfectly and enables restaurants to make Quesadillas more quickly and conveniently. All served in 100% compostable packaging that allows guests to pick three salsas or sides, including fresh tomato salsa, sour cream, or hand-mashed guac for a little extra.
“We’re so excited to bring our Hand-Crafted Quesadilla to our restaurants in the U.K.,” said Chris Brandt, Chief Brand Officer. “Guests will love exploring fresh flavour combinations through its sides and salsa options.”
The news comes as the fast-casual restaurant announced it is opening a new restaurant in one of Europe’s largest shopping centres, Westfield London, on 12 June.
Chipotle currently has 14 locations in the greater London area and is the only company of its size that owns and operates all of its restaurants globally. Chipotle was recently named the best place to grab lunch at the Just Eat Best 2023 Restaurant Awards, with the brand’s burrito also earning the top trending dish in the UK in 2022, according to Deliveroo’s annual report.
“Given the rising popularity of Chipotle across London, our expansion in the area remains a top priority for our international strategy,” said Jacob Sumner, Director of European Operations. “This new location will increase the West End community’s access to real, fresh food.”
