Currys announces iD Mobile reaches 2 million subscribers

iD Mobile, the mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) from Currys, is thrilled to announce that it has surpassed 2 million subscribers, marking a significant achievement ahead of its original projections. This milestone comes on the heels of a remarkable period of growth, further solidifying iD Mobile’s position as a leading MVNO player in the UK telecoms market.

Over the last year, (Oct ’23 – ‘24) iD Mobile experienced substantial growth, thanks to a value-driven proposition that’s resonating with consumers, adding a further 488,000 subscribers to reach the 2 million milestone. The company’s blend of affordability, flexibility, and a feature-rich offering has earned it a reputation as the “value” network. For a third successive time, iD Mobile have been recognised as ‘Great Value’ by Which? and were announced winners of ‘Best Contract Value for Money’ at the 2024 Uswitch Telecoms Awards. More recently, Trusted Reviews named iD Mobile the ‘Best Value Network’ in 2024. iD Mobile have also received plaudits for their data and Roaming offering, landing awards for Best Network for Data’ (Uswitch 2024) and ‘Best Network for Roaming’ (Trusted Reviews 2024).

iD Mobile’s award-winning proposition has proven highly effective in attracting and retaining customers, resulting in a further reduction in customer churn. This highlights the company’s ability to offer competitive and attractive packages that foster customer loyalty. A key differentiation point in their strategy has seen the brand focus on attracting those on a “big four” mobile network with the launch of its biggest awareness campaign to date, ‘See the Light’. The campaign tackles the issue of people on one of these “major networks” unwittingly overpaying for their mobile phone plan, with users often remaining with their existing provider for years and paying a premium, without exploring better options. ‘See the Light’ has been encouraging these customers to switch and save an average of £230 a year on their phone plan. The campaign is proving to be successful, with iD brand awareness up 12% year-on-year, contributing towards the rapid uplift in sales and subsequent subscriber milestone.
