Currys & PC World - Retailer NewsTP-LINK, the global provider of home networking technologies, has partnered with the UK’s largest electrical retailer, Currys & PC World, to bring wireless connectivity to homes as the popularity oftablets, smart TVs and internet-enabled gaming consoles continues to grow. TP-LINK’s routers, powerline adapters and range extenders are available across 500 Currys & PC World stores and online (www.currys.co.uk and www.pcworld.co.uk).

The average UK household has three internet-enabled devices, and multi-tasking across laptops, smartphones and games consoles is growing in popularity. Ofcom estimates 81% of tablet users and 74% of smartphone users browse the web while watching TV, or interact about the TV content they are viewing. As sales of smart TVs grow steadily and tablets set to feature on many Christmas lists, demand for wireless connectivity throughout the home is reaching unprecedented highs. Currys & PC World stores will feature TP-LINK powerline adapters within their main TV sections to reinforce to customers the importance of a fast, stable Internet connection when using the smart functions of IPTVs.

Syed Kazmi, category manager for networking at Currys & PC World, said: “We see TP-LINK’s products as must-haves for the connected home. By making use of the latest wireless technologies, families will be able to enjoy their gadgets to the fullest, and movie or game nights won’t get interrupted by poor Wi-Fi connectivity.”

Some of the TP-LINK powerline range available from Currys & PC World (the retailers owned by the Dixons Retail group), include the TL-PA4010KIT and the TL-WPA281KIT. These products are designed to efficiently extend the internet connection to every room of the house over existing electrical circuitry, connecting all network compatible devices, from computers and game consoles to smart TVs and wireless printers.

Other new products include the Portable Battery Powered 3G/4G Wireless N Router TL-MR3040 and the 300Mbps Universal WiFi Range Extender TL-WA850RE, which boosts the strength and range of an existing WiFi signal to previously unreachable or hard-to-wire areas. They also function as wireless adapters to connect wired devices like Blu-ray players, gaming consoles, DVRs and Internet TVs.

Eric Wang, country manager of TP-LINK UK, said: “The growing popularity of smart TVs and second screen applications such as the X-Factor voting app highlight the need for the latest connectivity technologies. Our routers, powerline adapters and range extenders enable Currys & PC World customers to make the most of their smart TV, tablet and other wireless devices through a reliable, high-speed internet connection.”
