Flying Tiger Copenhagen plans parcel locker expansion after increasing conversions by 20%

Variety retailer Flying Tiger Copenhagen boosted online conversion rates by 20% after integrating nShift’s Checkout solution to enhance its delivery offer for customers.

The Danish retailer and nShift, the global leader in delivery & experience management, have a long-standing relationship. Working together to build and enhance the delivery experience, the partnership has centered on providing improved access to parcel lockers for pick up/drop off deliveries (PUDO), which are rapidly increasing in popularity across the Flying Tiger Copenhagen customer base.

PUDO represents the preferred delivery method for almost three quarters (70%) of Flying Tiger’s Nordic customer base. With nShift, Flying Tiger intends to expand its PUDO capacity to cater for rising demand elsewhere in Europe. It is launching PUDO in Italy later this year as well as expanding the option in the UK, France and Germany.

“We’re seeing growing interest in out of home – and particularly PUDO – deliveries. Customers often see them as more convenient than doorstep deliveries: they can collect them at a time that suits them, safe in the knowledge they’ll be kept safe,” said Sander van Enschot, head of digital operations, Flying Tiger Copenhagen.

He continues, “The inability for our shoppers to select their preferred PUDO point at the checkout was a big issue in delivering a positive customer experience. Most of the time, what was automatically selected for them was neither convenient nor their preferred choice.”

Gary Carlile, executive VP of customer growth at nShift, said: “Retailers often treat deliveries as an afterthought, but for customers, they’re crucial. It’s imperative that retailers provide choice and convenience options at checkout. Our collaboration with Flying Tiger Copenhagen shows how adding PUDO choices directly impacts conversion rates and business growth.”

The growing trend towards PUDO as a delivery method extends across Europe. According to recent reports, since 2021, the number of parcel lockers in the European market has increased by more than half and the number of PUDO stations is growing by an average of 7% per year.

nShift Checkout connects retailers to more than 1.2 million PUDO locations, so Flying Tiger Copenhagen is able to offer its customers a huge amount of choice when it comes to selecting their preferred PUDO locations. Additional benefits to retailers include:

  • Reducing cart abandonment: providing multiple carrier choices allows shoppers to select delivery methods that align with their lifestyles, decreasing the likelihood of abandoned carts.

  • Boosting conversions: fine-tuning carrier selection through integrated testing tools optimizes the checkout experience, leading to higher conversion rates.

  • Consistent brand experience: customizable features ensure that delivery options align with the retailer’s brand identity, enhancing customer trust and recognition.

  • Seamless integration: retailers can quickly implement the solution using a ready-to-use widget or opt for deeper integration through APIs.

van Enschot concluded: “The ease of integrating nShift’s solutions with our existing systems has been remarkable. We now have the ability to scale PUDO with confidence across our European business.”
