Christmas is one of the most stressful events of the year, resulting in many forgetting to pick up key items and then struggling to purchase them closer to the day thanks to limited shop opening times and availability.

Ultra-fast grocery delivery service Getir has launched an ‘emergency Christmas hotline’  to give consumers what they need, whenever they need it this festive season.

Brits will be able to use the emergency hotline over the entire Christmas period including Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s  Day to get the essentials they may have forgotten delivered right to their door.

To celebrate their festive delivery times, Getir is also launching a free delivered advent calendar, with free gifts being added to every order in December.

Milk, stuffing and toilet roll are the most forgotten items over the festive period

Getir has analysed its sales data to reveal the most forgotten items over the festive period.

They found that last year four times more milk was sold on Christmas Eve compared to usual daily sales and the most purchased item on Christmas Day was in fact the Toilet Roll, with the number of units sold increasing by a staggering 500%.

With regards to the Christmas Dinner, shoppers had forgotten stuffing in their Christmas food shops as searches for ‘stuffing’ increased by a whopping 96% on Christmas Eve alone. Other forgotten items included ice, sharing chocolates as well as orange and apple sales which peaked over the holiday season.

Getir is giving away Christmas’ most forgotten items for free this December

To ensure everyone has everything to enjoy the festive season, Getir will be giving away the most forgotten items at Christmas for FREE this December as part of their first-ever delivered advent calendar service.

For every day throughout December, all orders will include one free forgotten item ranging from milk and stuffing to sweet treats and alcohol which will be revealed each day in the app.

There will also be exclusive premium prizes up for grabs including football tickets, free delivery for a year and Pasta Evangelist masterclasses which will be awarded at random each day.

Free gifts can be claimed through the app and will be a surprise until the day with no minimum basket spend.
