HeyLO! launches UK-first lupin flour Low-Carb and High Protein Crackerbreads for the January reset

HeyLO!Leeds-based bakery brand HeyLO! is kicking off 2026 with the launch of a UK first – Lupin flour-based, low-carb, high Protein Crackerbreads.

Timed to land at the height of the January reset, the launch taps into growing demand for smarter everyday swaps as shoppers look to cut carbs and boost protein, without sacrificing taste, texture or enjoyment. 

Launching on the brand’s webshop, the new Crackerbreads are designed for snacking, light lunches, grazing and protein-forward plates, offering a true cracker texture that sets them apart in a category often criticised for being dense, dry and overly seeded.

Unlike many low-carb crackers currently on the market, which rely heavily on seeds and are frequently described by consumers as “bird-food like”, HeyLO!’s Crackerbreads deliver a clean, crisp snap closer to a traditional cracker, removing one of the biggest barriers to repeat purchase in the category.

The Crackerbreads are made using lupin flour, a naturally low-carb, high-protein ingredient, aligning with the rapidly growing demand for protein-led snacks that support satiety, metabolic health and blood sugar control alongside carbohydrate reduction.

While still emerging in the UK, lupin flour is already gaining traction in wellness-led European markets as a next-generation functional ingredient.

Positioned across grazing, snacking and light meals, the HeyLO! Crackerbreads will appeal to both committed low-carb consumers and flexitarian shoppers seeking moderation without restriction.

The January launch builds on strong momentum across HeyLO!’s existing Low-Carb Seeded Bread, Bagels, Wraps and Granola portfolio, further strengthening the brand’s presence in the better-for-you bakery and savoury snacking category ahead of 2026.

 Founded in Leeds in 2022, HeyLO! was created by Heidi Normanton after her own low-carb journey highlighted a clear gap in the market for bakery products that delivered on both nutrition and taste.

What began as a challenger bread concept quickly evolved into a fast-growing low-carb bakery brand, growing 20% year on year, with an expanding portfolio spanning loaves, bagels, wraps and granola.

Driven by its ‘food freedom’ ethos – enabling shoppers to enjoy everyday favourites without compromise – HeyLO! has built strong momentum across DTC and specialist retail and is now looking to scale distribution nationally as it enters its next phase of growth for 2026. 

Speaking about 2026, HeyLO! founder, Heidi Normanton, said: “We are all about ‘Food Freedom’ we want our customers to enjoy the foods they love through smarter everyday swaps. We plan to tackle the ‘New Year, New You’ market in January with a very different kind of wellness positioning.
