InstaVolt, the UK’s leading ultra-rapid EV charging network, is expanding its partnership with property development and investment company, British Land to continue work on one of the UK’s largest retail park EV charging rollouts.
The partnership comprises 18 British Land locations already progressing through development, with 273 charging units between them. Five of the sites are already live, with the rest due for activation over the coming months.
Two sites currently in development – at Reading Gate and Kingston, Milton Keynes – will feature on-site battery energy storage. The technology helps maintain consistent ultra-rapid performance during the busiest periods and eases demand on the local grid, supporting reliable charging even at peak times.
With many sites offering late-night shopping, drivers can also take advantage of InstaVolt’s off-peak rates after 8pm through the free, no-subscription InstaVolt app, charging at a lower price while they engage in some retail therapy. All the sites are open 24/7, for charging, coffee and food.
Retail parks are a natural home for ultra-rapid charging, bringing reliable infrastructure to high-footfall destinations where drivers already spend time. The rollout reinforces their role as everyday charging hubs in the transition to electric vehicles.

Close collaboration between British Land, InstaVolt and their delivery partners continues to drive the rollout forward, with further activations expected through the year.
