Leading and award winning health brand, The Turmeric Co., announces NPD and nationwide Sainsbury’s deal

One of the UK’s fastest-growing health brands, The Turmeric Co. (www.theturmeric.co), has announced a nationwide deal with supermarket giant Sainsbury’s. The business is launching exclusive NPD with the retailer, two ‘Self-Shot’ SKUs, alongside two SKUs from its core functional shots range.

From October 18th, The Turmeric Co.’s award-wining shots will be in Sainsbury’s stores in two flavours: Raw Turmeric and Ginger and Raw Turmeric Vitamin C and D3 in both 60ml shots (RRP £1.99) 420ml Self-Shot bottles (RRP £5.95).

The exclusive-to-Sainsbury’s ‘Self-Shot’ bottles contain a week’s worth of shots, allowing individuals to enjoy the products in a space-efficient way, or for households to share.

The launch into Sainsbury’s follows huge growth experienced by the brand, having achieved an 800% revenue increase in 2020. Consumer interest in turmeric and its health benefits continues to expand, and a recent study found that turmeric may be as effective as omeprazole for treating indigestion.[i]

The new deal with the retailer will provide consumers with a more convenient way to access nutritional support from The Turmeric Co., which manufactures the UK’s only functional shots which are backed by science.

The brand was founded in 2018 by former Premier League footballer, Thomas ‘Hal’ Robson-Kanu, to fill a gap in the market for a product that was supported by expert knowledge and research to positively impacted people’s health, whilst only using fresh, plant-based ingredients.

Thomas ‘Hal’ Robson-Kanu, founder and CEO of The Turmeric Co., says “This groundbreaking deal with Sainsbury’s will allow more people across the country to experience the game-changing benefits of our functional drinks. There is a huge gap in retail for a wellness product that really works, so this is the perfect time for our award-winning products to impress shoppers. The drinks that fill every The Turmeric Co. bottle started off as a secret family recipe which nutritionally fuelled my professional football career, and I am delighted to make this more accessible to those who are wanting to transform their health. Aligning with the Sainsbury’s ethos to champion happier, healthier living, we look forward to enhancing the lives of thousands more people across the UK.”
