Lick redefines the experience of discovering colour at B&Q stores

Colour-centric home decor brand, Lick, is transforming the process of colour discovery at your local B&Q store, with a first-of-its-kind interactive, digital screen and personalised colour quiz, alongside its range of high-quality products.

Lick’s physical presence at B&Q stores will include much more than what’s on the shelves. Via a first-of-its-kind interactive screen, the brand will be adding real-life inspiration and support to the shopping experience, offering customers free, unique colour suggestions at the touch of a finger.

Designed by Tash, Lick’s Director of Interior Design, the Lick Colour Quiz at B&Q will present customers with personalised colour recommendations based on their needs and preferences, allowing them to choose colours with confidence. Alongside the screen, customers will also find Lick’s range of high-quality paint, tools and peel & stick samples available for purchase in-store, for next day delivery or via Click + Collect at diy.com.

Features of the screen include:

  • Inspirational imagery of Lick colours in real homes.
  • An interactive, personalised quiz which guides customers on selecting colours and products for their decorating projects.
  • Easily digestible information about the features and benefits of Lick’s range of high-quality and sustainably sourced products.

Identity and personality is injected into our homes through colour, however, choosing a colour scheme can feel like a daunting experience. With this latest innovation, Lick wants to make their colour expertise accessible when consumers want it.

Below, Tash Bradley, director of interior design and colour psychologist at Lick, delves into how Lick’s in-store digital screen will change the game when it comes to choosing colour, and why finding the right colour for you should be at the forefront of your mind when decorating. Tash says: “We are so excited to be able to share our expertise on colour selection, and support more and more people on their decorating journey. We know how difficult it can be to decide on a colour for your home, so we are helping simplify the process by offering inspiration and advice, conveniently at local B&Q stores. Based on your needs and preferences, the on-screen quiz will provide you with a bespoke colour palette to compliment your home and create the mood you are looking for.”

At only four years old, Lick’s entry to the nation’s favourite DIY store follows a successful launch on the retailer’s website diy.com, in July 2023. The rate of Lick’s online sales surpassed projections, indicating the changing tastes of the modern consumer towards sustainability-focused brands, offering high-quality products, expert advice and support. B&Q and Lick have a shared mission with this partnership to empower the modern decorator, with a heightened experience of colour discovery and product selection.

With B&Q’s substantial presence in the UK market, this partnership offers an unparalleled opportunity for a growing brand like Lick to tap into a vast consumer base, spanning across the UK and Ireland. As one of just four paint brands showcased in B&Q stores, the nationwide availability represents a pivotal moment for the new brand within B&Q, signalling potential expansion in the coming years.

Lucas London, CEO of Lick, says: “At Lick, our mission is to empower the community to transform their homes, with high-quality products, inspiration and support. We are thrilled to now be in store at B&Q, as it allows us to expand our presence and help customers decorate with confidence at a large scale, whilst maintaining a personalised experience through our interactive screens. Whether you are an experienced decorator or attempting DIY for the first time, Lick is proud to be available at B&Q stores across the country to support everyone on their decorating journey.”

Laura Dollimore, B&Q, says: “We’re delighted to be working with Lick to implement such an innovative, advanced in-store experience for our customers at B&Q. With the first-of-its-kind digital screen, our work with Lick is not only enhancing how customers can pick and choose the colour of their paint but is also making the experience much more enjoyable, interactive and worry-free. With our customers already being able to get their hands on Lick products through Click + Collect at diy.com we’re so excited to officially see the launch of these helpful screens at B&Q stores across the UK and Ireland!”
