little dobbies Cheltenham is celebrating its first anniversary with the launch a series of free interactive workshops, inviting the local community to learn more about caring for houseplants.
The series of events will begin with an informative session on Monday 6 May, where attendees will discover all there is to know about houseplant repotting and learn about the different types of soil, its components, and choosing the best mix for your houseplant.
On Friday 24 May, the Green Team will host a session on houseplant care for beginners. The team will use the hour-long session to talk through the basics of plant care while covering important topics like watering, light, plant feed, and getting rid of unwanted pests to ensure plants flourish for years to come.
Orchid lovers will learn how to care for these popular flowering plants on Friday 14 June at a session suitable for plant parents of all abilities. Attendees will learn about caring for Orchids, the importance of soil, sunlight, and watering, and simple yet effective ways to make the plants bloom year after year.
Plant lovers are encouraged to head down to little dobbies Cheltenham on Sunday 30 June and join in on store’s first ever Plant Mixer, a social event to chat all things plants and gardening and meet like-minded people. There will be care tip demonstrations and a Q&A while attendees enjoy a refreshment.
Little Seedlings, Dobbies’ free monthly workshop for kids, is making its way to little dobbies Cheltenham for a one-off, hour and a half long workshop taking place in store on Monday 15 July. Children aged 4-10 are invited to learn all about terrariums and the importance of recycling and repurposing household items. The little dobbies Green Team will provide the plants, soil, and stones so all that attendees need to bring is an empty glass container.
To round off the seasonal workshop series, people can master the art of using moss poles on Sunday 28 July. The half hour session will uncover how moss poles can effectively be used to support houseplants like Monsteras and Pothos and keep them in good shape. The little dobbies experts will explore how some houseplants grow in the wild and the type of support necessary to cultivate the environment at home to ensure they thrive.
Speaking about the sessions coming to the little dobbies Cheltenham store, Operations Manager, Alix Evans, said: “We’ve had a fantastic first year of trading in Cheltenham. We have loved getting to know the local community and seeing our customers create their own indoor jungles.
“We have lots of lovely regulars to the store and we’re looking forward to welcoming them as well as some new faces for our series of free workshops on houseplants and how to look after them. We can’t wait to share our knowledge and love of plants.”
The store carries a fantastic range of houseplants (including its most popular item in this range, the Calathea) plus plant care, small space gardening products and home décor, as well gifting, including pet gifting, and seasonal products.
