Socially and environmentally conscious lifestyle brand Lucy & Yak is excited to announce the opening of its sixteenth store in Islington, London.
Coming to Islington Square – a destination for retail, dining and leisure just off Upper Street – the new location sits at the heart of one of London’s most characterful boroughs, in a square designed to reflect the identity of its surrounding community.
The doors open on Saturday 2nd May 2026. Inside, customers can explore Lucy & Yak’s collections, all made from ethically sourced, eco-friendly materials. The store will also be home to L&Y, a recently launched label sharing the same commitment to sustainability and ethics – offering a more pared-back approach to dressing through considered prints, calming tones and playful silhouettes.
To celebrate the opening weekend, the first 200 visitors through the door will receive an exclusive goody bag. Complimentary drinks and snacks will be on offer throughout, along with 20% off in store – all weekend long.
The new store will feature Lucy & Yak’s signature pink colour palette, offset with flashes of yellow creating a vibrant and inviting atmosphere. The store is step-free from street level and includes three thoughtfully designed changing rooms, one of which will be fully accessible.
Additionally, the store will debut an exciting new studio – the Re:Yak Hub – where customers will be invited to repair, mend and customise their Yaks, supporting the brand’s mission to keep clothing in circulation for longer, including community events and workshops. More than just a studio, Lucy & Yak Islington is set to become a vibrant meeting place, a creative home, and a living example of circular fashion done differently.
Lucy & Yak’s expansion follows the successful launches of stores in Bristol, Cambridge, Canterbury,
Norwich, Nottingham, Canterbury, Manchester, Cardiff, Exeter, Chester, Edinburgh, Sheffield, as well as the first outlet in Castleford and second in Portsmouth which have already proven just as popular with the brand’s community as their beloved flagship store in Brighton, North Road and the recently launched L&Y flagship store in Brighton, The Lanes.
These sixteen stores reflect Lucy & Yak’s ambition to build a stronger physical presence across the UK, offering more opportunities for face-to-face connection with the Yak community. Each shop also serves as a hub for the brand’s circularity initiatives, including its buyback scheme PreLoved – which has already kept 40,000 items in circulation and out of landfill since 2023. Customers can bring in and return their old Yaks, and once processed will receive a money-off voucher to put towards their next purchase. Meanwhile, the in-store PreLoved rail is the perfect place to pick up a gem for less – stocked with previously loved pieces looking for a new home, alongside upcycled and repaired items from the brand’s own Re:Yak studio in Yorkshire.
“We’re incredibly excited to be opening our first permanent London store in Islington. As a creative brand, establishing a space in the capital, as such a dynamic and culturally rich hub, feels like a really special moment for us. This store also marks the launch of our second Re:Yak Hub, giving customers from across London and beyond the opportunity to bring their pieces in for repair and upcycling. Our Re:Yak Studio team will be in-store once a month, offering hands-on support to help extend the life of our communities’ favourite Yaks,” said Ginny Yang, head of retail at Lucy & Yak.
