Madame F (www.madamef.com), quality, vegan wines, created in collaboration with LGBTQ+ charity Queer Britain, is launching its first Prosecco to Sainsbury’s (11% ABV, £12 per bottle). The purpose-driven partnership was built to celebrate the creative community of Queer Britain (https://queerbritain.org.uk/) and supports the nation’s first LGBTQ+ museum, based in King’s Cross.
The Madame F Prosecco DOC Treviso Extra Dry is comprised of 90% Glera and 10% Chardonnay grapes, offering the perfect combination of a quality sparkling and an easy drinking wine; ideal as an aperitif and perfect with fresh cheese and fish dishes. The colour is pale straw yellow, the bouquet has an aromatic fragrance, reminiscent of freshly cut apples. The taste is slightly sweet and very well balanced.
Georgina Haughton, head of wine buying at Sainsbury’s, says: “Sainsbury’s is committed to being a truly inclusive retailer where all our colleagues can be themselves and our customers feel welcome to shop with us. The Madame F brand fully celebrates these values and the light and fresh rosé has been an excellent addition to add to our wine range and the addition of Madame F’s extra dry Prosecco is something we will raise a toast to!”
The Prosecco will be on offer at Sainsbury’s, down from £12 to £9, covering the bulk of the Christmas season! From 3rd November to 31st December.
The Core Madame F Range
Madame F Rouge (13.5% ABV) is a fabulous blend of vibrant Grenache, bold Shiraz and spicy Carignan; it greets you with aromas of dark fruit, sweet spices and herbaceous notes; to taste, you’ll discover a smooth mouthfeel with blackcurrant, blackberry and a herbal character, hints of spice and a long finish.
Madame F White (12% ABV) is a gorgeous blend of creamy Viognier, citrus Colombard and floral Muscat; it invites you in with aromas of ripe peach and mandarin, with notes of pear and apple blossom; to taste, you’ll find succulent peach, apricot and ripe apple, a zippy citrus character, and a little white pepper spice on the finish.
Madame F Rosé (12% ABV) is a delicate yet fruity rosé wine, the wine is sourced from premium cooperatives in the Languedoc where Madame F selects old vine Grenache and Syrah to ensure lovely depth of spicy berry fruit, harvested early to gain zippy freshness. It’s an aromatic pink with vibrant strawberry and grenadine flavours and a hint of pepper.
Queer Britain is a charity and LGBTQ+ museum. It is an essential place for all regardless of sexuality or gender identity, to find out about the culture they have been born into, have chosen or seek to understand. Queer people have impacted every part of culture, yet all too often their lives have been written in the margins of history books. Queer Britain and Madame F believe that queer people’s stories should be understood by all and celebrated in all their rich diversity in their own, dedicated home.
In October 2021, Madame F launched The Queer Britain Madame F Award, pledging £30,000 to champion LGBTQ+ artists and support the Queer Britain museum. The theme was inspired by illustrator Justin Kemp, who designed the iconic “Susy the Frog” image featured on the Madame F bottle. Entrants sent in illustrations, paintings, drawings and photographsthat celebrate the theme of Queer Creativity, along with a statement explaining what that means to them. This year’s art award has attracted over 120 entries and the winning design was announced on the 2nd May, when the winners, Oliver Freeston and Stephen Appleby-Barr received their prizes at a special reception held at the museum’s Granary Square home.
