France’s best kept secret, Marie Morin chocolate mousse, lands in 300 M&S stores and has French expats and influencers going wild: “It’s one of the first things I buy when I go home to Paris”.
Forget elaborate dinner-party desserts and hours spent in the kitchen, one of France’s best-loved chocolate mousses has newly arrived in Britain and influencers are already declaring it their new favourite sweet treat.
Marie Morin’s iconic Traditional Chocolate Mousse is now available in 300 Marks & Spencer stores across the UK, giving British shoppers the chance to try the French dessert that has been a firm favourite across the Channel for years. And if the reaction on social media is anything to go by, it could be the latest French food import to cause a stir.
One influencer described the mousse as “quite possibly one of the nicest things I’ve ever had in my mouth… WOW!!”, while another simply called it “my new favourite chocolate mousse.”
For French expat and foodie @frenchfamilyfood, the arrival has been particularly exciting, admitting that the mousse is “one of the first things I buy when I go home to Paris” and saying she was “so thrilled that it’s now available to buy in the UK.”
Meanwhile, @charlottecohencooks praised the indulgent dessert, highlighting its nutritional credentials saying: “These Marie Morin Dark Chocolate mousses are SO good. Also 8g protein per pot?! Don’t mind if I do.”
And it is not just the taste getting attention. Food influencer @frenchfoodielover was won over by the mousse’s glossy appearance, texture and intense chocolate flavour, describing its “shiny finish” as “incredible” and praising its “really intense chocolate taste.”
So, what is all the fuss about? Unlike many supermarket desserts, Marie Morin’s Traditional Chocolate Mousse is made with just three ingredients: pure cocoa butter chocolate, free-range eggs and salted butter. Made in Brittany and served in distinctive glass jars, it has a rich chocolate flavour and smooth, airy texture, with no colouring agents or preservatives. And it seems Brits are increasingly happy to spend a little more on a quality chocolate treat. Recent Mintel research found that 61% of chocolate lovers see premium chocolate as an “affordable luxury”, with shoppers increasingly favouring quality over quantity[1].
David Morin, who leads UK development for Marie Morin, said “Our family has always believed that the best desserts are made with simple, high-quality ingredients and recipes that stay true to tradition. Expanding beyond France has long been an ambition for us, and launching in the UK is an exciting milestone. To secure a listing with Marks & Spencer from the outset is phenomenal. We are delighted that British shoppers can now discover a dessert that has been loved in France for generations.”
With French food continuing to inspire British shoppers, Marie Morin’s arrival could prove to be the latest Gallic import to make the leap from French favourite to British fridge staple. And judging by the early reaction from influencers, the French really may have been keeping this chocolate mousse to themselves for far too long!
Marie Morin Traditional Chocolate Mousse (2 x 100g) is available in selected 300 Marks & Spencer stores across the UK, RRP £4.79.
