Meet the ‘Highly Recommended’ air fryer that can cook 60 chicken wings in one go

Philips Megabasket airfryerChicken wing lovers have been turning to the American-style favourite in droves, with the rise of wing restaurants, viral food trends and sharing platters helping make crispy wings one of the UK’s go-to comfort foods.

However, cooking enough wings to feed a family can be challenging, and the sticky marinades common to most chicken wing recipes can make the cleanup a nightmare.

According to Amazon reviewers, the new Philips Megabasket airfryer with steam is the perfect choice for sticky chicken recipes thanks to its innovative steam clean function and massive 9.5L capacity, which means users can cook up to  60 chicken wings in a single batch – enough to feed a group of friends without waiting around for multiple rounds.

The steam clean function works by injecting a concentrated burst of steam into the basket, loosening dirt and grime so the basket can be cleaned in a flash.

As well as receiving multiple 5* reviews, users praised the steam clean function, with one Amazon reviewer saying: “Afterwards, I simply wipe the tray around with paper kitchen towels and then wash and rinse, nothing sticks to it making it easy to clean”

Martin Senders, airfryer chef at Philips, has revealed how Brits can create the ultimate wing feast at home, ahead of National Chicken Wing Day on 29th July.

He said: “Chicken wings are the perfect sharing food, but people often don’t realise how much they can prepare at home.

“A larger-capacity air fryer gives you the flexibility to cook bigger portions at once, meaning you can spend less time making batches and more time enjoying food with friends and family.

“The key to great wings is to arrange them so there’s still space for hot air to circulate, as this is what helps create that crispy texture. Marinating beforehand and adding sauces after cooking will also help achieve the best results.”

Martin’s Fried Spicy Thai Chicken Wings

Preparation Time: 10 mins

Cooking Time: 18 mins

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 6 shallots
  • 3 red chilli peppers
  • 1tsp of turmeric powder
  • 20g of galangal
  • 1 tbsp of shallot oil
  • 740g of chicken wings
  • 2 tbsp of fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp of sugar
  • 2 tbsp of rice flour

Method:

  1. Blend the garlic, shallots, red chillies, turmeric powder, galangal and shallot oil to a paste. Combine chicken wings with the fish sauce, sugar and blended spice paste and leave to marinate for 1 hour in the refrigerator. Add rice flour just before frying.
  2. Drain excess marinade from the chicken wings. Place the chicken wings in the basket and slide the basket into the Airfryer. Start the device at 200 degrees for 18 minutes.
  3. Serve the roasted spicy Thai chicken wings with cucumber slices or veggie salad.
