Myprotein, the UK and Europe’s No.1 sports nutrition brand, is bringing its protein expertise to one of the UK’s biggest food categories: soup.
We are proud to be producing the new Myprotein Soup range under licence, made at our dedicated 14-allergen-free factory in Harrogate. It follows the success of our Myprotein Lunch Pots partnership and extends that collaboration into soups and wellness bowls. The range launches in Tesco ROI on 14 September, then rolls out across UK stores nationally from 5 October.
Each 375g pot delivers 19 to 23 grams of protein for under 250 calories, and the flavours are far from traditional: Thai Red Chicken, Chicken and Red Lentil Daal, Golden Chicken and Turmeric, Classic Chicken and Veg, and Chipotle Chicken. All are built around chicken and designed to give shoppers the protein, convenience, and flavour they are increasingly looking for.
Why soup, and why now?
The chilled soup category is worth £271 million and continues to grow in both value and volume, yet it remains dominated by traditional flavours. Global-inspired options make up less than 15 per cent of the category. That gap is exactly where we see an opportunity: to bring something different to the aisle and introduce a younger, more protein-conscious shopper to soup.
Myprotein has already proven this model works. Lunch Pots, which we produce under licence, have generated £22 million in retail sales value since launch, drawing in younger shoppers and delivering incremental growth with room still to grow. We are now applying that same thinking to soup.
A few reasons behind our investment:
• Consumers want high protein, low calorie, and convenient food that still tastes good. At 375g and under 250 calories, this range offers a portion-controlled meal without sacrificing protein content, which matters as eating habits shift and GLP-1 users look for smaller portions.
• Soup is a large, well-established category, but flavour innovation has been limited. Myprotein brings a fresh proposition, and a different type of shopper, to the category.
• Consumer research backs this up too. Three in four younger shoppers say they would buy Myprotein Soup, and three in five say protein is important to their diet.
• There is also room to grow. Myprotein Lunch Pots are already stocked in Sainsbury’s, Asda, Co-op, and Ocado, and soup is a natural next step for the partnership.
At its core, this pairs Myprotein’s position as the world’s leading sports nutrition brand with Kirsty’s expertise in manufacturing, innovation, and retail. The idea is simple: combine protein, convenience, and flavour in a category that is ready for a new generation of shoppers.
The soup range will be available exclusively in Tesco ROI from 14th September Save 1 € to €3. From 5th October, the range launches in the UK into Co-op, Budgens, Londis, Booker Premier & Cash & Carry AF Blakemore – save £1 offers.
