Nisa Local in SalisburyNisa Local Rowbarrow, on The Crescent in Salisbury, has donated £500 to local charity Alabaré, supporting its Health & Wellbeing programme in Young People’s homes and Parent & Baby homes.

The donation was made possible through Co-op Wholesale’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity, which helps independent retailers give back to their communities.

Alabaré supports thousands of people every year across England and Wales, helping those who are homeless or vulnerable to overcome barriers and move towards the life they choose. Founded on the values of care, compassion, honesty and respect, the charity provides safe homes, tailored support plans and stepping-stone opportunities back to independent living.

The Health & Wellbeing programme funded by the donation will deliver a range of activities designed to improve confidence, develop life skills and encourage positive social interaction. The sessions focus on personal growth, teamwork and resilience, providing essential support for young people and parents navigating challenging circumstances.

Gemma Snell, young people’s wellbeing lead at Alabaré, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Nisa Local Rowbarrow and Co-op Wholesale’s MADL charity for this generous donation. The Health & Wellbeing programme makes a huge difference to the lives of the young people and families we support, giving them the tools and confidence they need to move forward.”

Store Manager Simon added: “It was fantastic to welcome the Alabaré team into store to celebrate this donation. They do such vital work supporting vulnerable people locally, and we’re proud to play a small part in that. Thanks to MADL, our store has now donated almost £20,000 to good causes in Salisbury and the surrounding area.”

Kate Carroll, social value lead at Co-op Wholesale, said: “This is a brilliant example of how local retailers can use MADL to support projects that make a lasting difference in their communities.”
