Kingsland Drinks’ Spanish wine brand, Campaneo, will work with One Pound Meals chef, Miguel Barclay, in 2023 to roll out a PR and social media campaign which will focus on Campaneo’s value, price point and quality. The partnership follows a full repositioning and rebrand for Campaneo, which sees bottles carry contemporary branding showcasing Spanish cues.
The Campaneo range currently features a Garnacha and a Tempranillo, made from old vines producing rich and flavourful grapes. Hailing from Campo de Borja, the two wines – currently available in Tesco stores nationwide – are widely considered to be some of the best value Spanish reds on the market, priced at £5.50 per 75cl bottle.
Jade Fowles, Senior Brand Manager at Kingsland Drinks, said “Miguel Barclay is a fantastic fit for Campaneo. His ‘One Pound Meals’ have struck a chord with consumers in recent years. Right now, we know shoppers are actively looking for budget-friendly wine and meals that don’t compromise on taste and quality. By partnering with Miguel in 2023 we hope to resonate with even more consumers who are seeking accessible, tasty wines.”
The Campaneo range is available to all multiple retailers via Kingsland Drinks now – https://www.kingsland-drinks.
Tasting notes
The Campaneo Old Vines Garnacha 2020 (abv 14%) is a beautifully smooth, rich and full-bodied red with rich plum notes, light spice flavours with a touch of cherry on the finish. It also goes well with rosemary-studded British roast lamb, lamb stew and pork tenderloin.
The Campaneo Old Vines Tempranillo 2020 (abv 13.5%) is a gorgeously smooth and well-structured wine with hints of wild ripe raspberry, hints of cherry and just a touch of spice. This lovely, great-value Spanish red matches perfectly with a good chunk of Manchego cheese or a selection of cold meats such as prosciutto.
