Shopping for your partner this Christmas can feel overwhelming, but jewellery remains a classic and popular choice. Demand for jewellery gifts surged by 161% between November and December last year, a trend likely to continue this festive season.
However, with so many styles to choose from choosing the perfect piece of jewellery for your partner can be a challenge. We surveyed 500 UK men about their Christmas gift-shopping habits to better understand these struggles.
The results? 35% say their biggest hurdle is figuring out what their partner would truly love, while 16% struggle to find something unique or personal. A further one in fourr men admit to leaving their Christmas shopping until the last minute, meaning Christmas shopping can easily become stressful.
This year, Pandora UK has partnered with personal shopper Hellana Mardasian of Styled by Hellana to take the guesswork out of gifting through a festive-themed Q&A. Hellana shares her expert advice and trend insights, while the product specialists at Pandora reveal their top gift recommendations for men seeking the perfect, fail-safe present for their partner this Christmas.

- What are your top tips for selecting a thoughtful and meaningful gift for someone who seems hard to buy for?
“When shopping for someone who is hard to buy for, I always recommend focusing on their personal style and taste.” says Hellana.
“Consider how you can personalise the gift—for example an engraved piece of jewellery can be more meaningful and remind them of you every time they wear it. Pay attention to their lifestyle: what might they need but haven’t bought for themselves? Think about their hobbies or the things that bring them joy—gifting something that aligns with these interests will always feel more thoughtful.”
“For men, I suggest narrowing down the search by starting with what’s meaningful to their partner. Instead of trying to find something “perfect,” focus on what resonates emotionally—whether it’s a gift that celebrates an important date or that aligns with their partner’s values.
“I’d also recommend focusing on gifts that are timeless and elegant, something their partner can keep forever—avoiding trendy items that might not stand the test of time. Jewellery is a fantastic option because it can be both personal and enduring, especially if you opt for pieces that can be engraved or customised. If you’re short on time or unsure where to start, hiring a personal shopper can be a great way to find budget-friendly options while taking the pressure off.
- What are the most common challenges your clients face when shopping for Christmas gifts, especially last-minute?
“Many of my clients feel rushed and overwhelmed by the sheer volume of options available. They want to find something truly personal that their partner will love and cherish, but they often worry about getting it wrong because the gift feels so intimate. This pressure can make last-minute shopping especially stressful.”
3. What trends are you seeing in Christmas gift-giving this year, especially for jewellery and accessories?
“This year, I’m seeing a lot of chunky chains (in both gold and silver), pearl detailing, bold statement earrings, and layering and stacking of jewellery. People are gravitating toward classic pieces with a twist—whether it’s adding birthstones, engraving, or meaningful charms to simple, timeless designs.”
4. What are the key features or qualities to look for when selecting jewellery or accessories as a Christmas gift?
” The first thing to consider is whether the recipient suits gold or silver—this comes down to their undertones, so it’s worth investing in a professional colour analysis if you’re unsure. Once you know this, you can think about their style personality—are they more classic and modern, edgy, or feminine?
“You’ll also want to consider what they already own: Do they wear a lot of earrings? Do they already have bracelets that could be stacked for a layered look?
“Finally, make sure you’re choosing pieces with solid craftsmanship, quality materials, and lasting durability. Jewellery is an investment, so it should be something that will stand the test of time.”
