pladis, the leading global snacking company and home to much loved brands including McVitie’s, GODIVA, Carr’s and Ülker, has today announced that it has signed a one year sponsorship deal for London Titans Wheelchair Basketball Club – one of the largest and most successful clubs in the UK, now in its 30th year.

Inclusion and diversity is deeply important to pladis, who are committed to a vibrant, inclusive and diverse workforce and an environment where everyone is comfortable bringing their true selves to work.

In 2021 pladis established our global advisory board comprised of established Inclusion, Diversity & Equity (IDE) leaders, including Ade Adepitan MBE – wheelchair basketball icon, paralympic medalist and key member of the Titans’ starting lineup.

pladis understands the vital role that sport plays in society and in transforming lives and already sponsors a number of sports teams across the regions it operates in.

London Titans, who have over 70 members across six teams, training and playing out of several locations including Stanmore, University of East London and Bushey. Providing an environment where people socialise, gain confidence and benefit from all of the health benefits you would expect from a fast-paced and physically demanding sport.

They have helped produce over 50 British players during their long history, including stars such as Helen Freeman, Gaz Choudary and Simon Brown who all started in the club’s development teams.

Ade Adepitan MBE, pladis global I&D advisory board member, said: “Today’s announcement recognises the important work that Titans does for so many aspiring disabled sportspeople across the UK, and follows an extraordinarily successful season for the club – with our juniors finishing third in the league, and both our Premier and  Women’s Division One teams roaring to the top of League tables. pladis’ sponsorship will be incredibly important as the club continues to build on its success and as we help people of all abilities access sport as a way to enrich their lives.”

Anisa Missaghi, chief corporate affairs and sustainability officer, pladis said: “I’m thrilled to announce our sponsorship of the London Titans, building on our support for other leading sports teams across our key markets. At pladis we bring happiness – through our biscuits and chocolates and, through this sponsorship, by helping with life-changing access to sport.

“Working closely with Ade through his role on pladis’ Global IDE Board I’ve watched the Titans go from strength-to-strength. It’s exciting to now support the next step of the club’s journey – both their success on the field, and the role they play in inspiring communities and bringing sport to the lives of disabled people across the UK.

“I look forward to learning more – personally and as a business – from Ade and from our partnership with London Titans as we make pladis a place where everyone can bring their true selves to work
