Pukka launches two organic blends to help retailers tap into growing demand for sleep and clean energy sources

PukkaPukka Herbs, the herbal tea brand powered by nature and known for its organically certified blends, is expanding its portfolio with two new fruit and herbal teas. Rolling out now, Pukka Night Time Apple Chai and Pukka Citrus Yerba Mate & Green Tea will be available via Amazon, Ocado and Holland & Barrett, with Night Time Apple Chai also landing in Tesco. The launch gives retailers two new products that meet fast‑rising consumer needs and support category growth at a time when functional beverages are accelerating.

Functional drinks are now worth £223m, growing +86% vs 2021, with 1 million more shoppers entering the category since 20211. Fruit and herbal tea are also performing strongly, now worth £143.3m and up +4.3%2. Both new Pukka blends have been developed to help retailers tap into these growth areas, offering flavours and benefits that attract younger, wellness‑motivated shoppers without cannibalising existing SKUs, a key driver of incrementality in the category.

Sleep remains the top wellness priority, with more than half (57%) of the public saying that getting good sleep is more important to them now than it was five years ago3. Night Time Apple Chai builds on this demand while introducing a trending flavour profile. With 62% of Gen Z and Millennial tea drinkers actively seeking new and exotic flavours45, the blend gives retailers a proven functional benefit paired with a flavour trend that broadens appeal and drives trial.

Citrus Yerba Mate & Green Tea meets the rising demand for natural, “cleaner” energy sources. Green tea is growing at +17.3%6, with consumers increasingly turning to natural caffeine sources such as yerba mate and matcha. Consumers are increasingly favouring products for hydration, convenience and functional boosts7. By combining green tea, yerba mate and guarana, Citrus Yerba Green offers retailers a differentiated, premium SKU that fits into one of the fastest‑growing parts of the category and supports higher basket value.

Jonny Briscoe, general manager, UK & Ireland, LIPTON Teas and Infusions, says: “Pukka continues to lead the way in functional, organically certified beverages that help consumers support their wellbeing naturally. From better sleep to digestion and calm, our blends are crafted to fit seamlessly into busy lives while delivering exciting, trend-led flavours. These latest launches offer retailers a strong opportunity to tap into growing shopper interest in natural, beneficial and nourishing health and wellness products.”

As with all Pukka teas, both blends also support retailer sustainability commitments. Each pack contains 20 individually wrapped, and 100% home‑compostable tea bags, with fully recyclable outer packaging made from FSC‑certified materials and printed using vegetable inks.

The ranges will be supported within Pukka’s wider ‘Nothing Beats Nature’ campaign across PR, social, influencer activity and digital channels.

  • Pukka Night Time Apple Chai (20 tea bags/36g) is available now in Tesco, Amazon, Ocado and Holland & Barrett online, with Waitrose launching imminently. RRP £4.99.
  • Pukka Citrus Yerba Green (20 tea bags/36g) is available now on Ocado, Amazon and in Holland & Barrett stores, with Waitrose launching imminently. RRP £4.99.
