Free, contactless charging for World EV Day
To celebrate World EV Day, RAW is once again opening up free charging to drivers right across the UK, at retail parks, shopping destinations, National Trust properties, RHS gardens, Greene King pubs and major family attractions.
The offer covers RAW’s entire AC network (chargers up to 22kW) and a selection of DC rapid and ultra-rapid sites delivering speeds of up to 300kW, so drivers can top up for free whether they are stopping for a quick shop or settling in for the day.
Crucially, there is nothing to download and no account to set up. Every AC RAW charger is fully accessible by contactless payment, so on World EV Day drivers can simply drive up, tap and charge for free.

A landmark moment for the UK’s EV transition
World EV Day arrives with the UK’s electric transition gathering pace. According to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) and Zapmap, there are now more than 2.15 million fully electric cars on UK roads. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) made up over a quarter of all new car registrations across the first seven months of 2026, reaching a record 30% market share in June, as expanding model choice, competitive pricing and the Government’s Electric Car Grant continue to accelerate uptake.
With more drivers making the switch than ever before, reliable, convenient charging at the destinations people visit every week is central to sustaining that momentum and to giving new EV owners the confidence to go electric.
Simple payments
Every RAW charge point, from a 22kW AC unit to a 300kW ultra-rapid DC charger, is designed around simplicity. Drivers pay with a contactless bank card and start charging straight away, with no app required to download and no account to create. It is a deliberate part of RAW’s approach: removing the friction that too often gets in the way of public charging, and making every visit as easy as possible.
Hear about discounts and rewards first
Drivers who want to be first to hear about free-charging days, discounts and exclusive rewards can sign up to RAW Rewards. Registration is quick and free, and members are the first to know when new offers go live across the network. Sign up at: https://rawcharging.com/rewards.
Jason Simpson, CEO, RAW Charging, said: “World EV Day is a chance to celebrate how far the UK has come and to make the switch to electric feel that little bit easier. That is exactly what we are doing by opening up free charging right across our network: at the shopping parks, gardens, pubs, attractions and days out where people already spend their time.
“What matters just as much as the free charging is how simple it is. There is no app to download and no account to set up, drivers just tap a bank card and plug in. That is how public charging should work, and it is the experience we are proud to offer every day of the year, not just on World EV Day.”
