Today, Dans le Noir ?, renowned in the UK for its groundbreaking dine-in-the-dark sensory experiences and advocacy for the visually impaired community, introduces its latest creation: Dans le Noir ? Eau de Parfum de Nuit. The fragrance has been meticulously crafted and tested in darkness and is designed to be worn at night-time, offering a unique experience that heightens and deepens the connection to the senses.
The launch of Eau de Parfum de Nuit marks the first luxury beauty product from the team at Dans le Noir ?, following five years of running sensory perfume workshops and a decade of its successful spa business in France, marking a bold new chapter in its journey.
The original new fragrance has been developed by a rising star in French perfumery, Suzy le Helley, and a team of visually impaired sensory experts at Dans le Noir?, who have spent over a year crafting the scent. This collaboration embraced the absence of visual cues throughout the creative process, focusing instead on scent and touch.
The fragrance notes have been carefully paired to evoke emotions that resonate with bedtime – combining softness, power, and sensuality. Eau de Parfum de Nuit opens with delicate top notes of silk and cotton, followed by warm, inviting middle notes of sandalwood and creamy tonka bean, and is grounded by a rich base of musk and vanilla. Together, these notes result in a comforting and elegant aroma, offering a sense of tranquillity and allure in the heart of the night.
The design of the bottle features the iconic Dans le Noir ? question mark, encouraging its users to explore their senses, ask questions and open their minds. For two decades, Dans le Noir ? has been a leader in delivering ‘blind’ experiences, challenging societal norms, and advocating for equal opportunities for people with differences. This perfume launch is a continuation of its mission to represent and empower the visually impaired community, with an innovative approach that celebrates heightened senses.
Suzy le Helley, fragrance expert and lead perfumer, said: “Creating this fragrance in complete darkness was a transformative experience as a perfumer. Deprived of the visual cues that typically guide the creative process, I had to rely entirely on my sense of smell and touch, which brought a new depth to my work. Collaborating with the sensory experts at Dans le Noir ? – individuals who navigate the world through heightened senses – was both humbling and inspiring. Their unique perspectives and insights challenged me to think differently, and to truly capture the essence of darkness in a new way.”
Edouard de Broglie, Founder of Dans le Noir ?, comments: “For twenty years, Dans le Noir ? has been a movement rooted in inclusivity and sensory exploration. Our ethical foundation drives us to challenge conventional thinking, inviting people to go beyond the ordinary and truly engage with the world around them. By creating experiences that awaken the senses, we encourage people to open their minds. This ethos is at the core of everything we do, from our dine-in-the-dark experiences to our newest venture in fragrance with the latest launch of Eau de Parfum de Nuit. We are committed to pushing boundaries, breaking down barriers, and creating a more inclusive world where everyone’s abilities and contributions are valued.”
Eau de Parfum de Nuit will be available for purchase in the UK and Europe at Dans le Noir ? locations globally and online at www.danslenoirparfums.com before the end of September and will retail at £139 for 100ml and £60 for 30ml Dans le Noir ? will also offer perfume workshops at its London venue from early November, offering a deeper sensory experience.
