Station Hill, Reading’s landmark £850m mixed-use regeneration project from Lincoln MGT is set to enhance its food and beverage offering further with the arrival of two key brands: Angelos and 1650 Coffee Co.
Angelos has signed an 15-year lease for 1,069 sq ft on a ground floor unit on Friar’s Walk. It is expected to become a firm favourite among local businesses and residents, benefiting from its proximity to the 598-home, best-in-class BTR scheme, ‘Ebb&Flow’ and the 275,000 sq ft office development, ONE Station Hill which form part of the Station Hill development.
Angelos is an Italian-style Trattoria. It adapts its offering throughout the day from being a casual café in the morning – when customers can grab coffee and pastries – to a neighbourhood restaurant in the evening serving an authentic á la carte menu and an extensive wine list. Angelos will also function as a deli, allowing Reading locals to sample quality Italian produce and wine, sourced from well-respected suppliers and producers.
The venue is owned by local restaurateur Angelo, well known for his highly acclaimed ‘Ruchetta’ restaurant in Wokingham which has been open for more than two decades. The new Station Hill venue will offer a buzzing calendar of events allowing residents and visitors alike to enjoy Angelo’s highly-sought-after wine tasting events. These have already earned Ruchetta a strong following over the years, engaging with diners to champion independent heritage Italian wine producers.
At the same time, the founder of Café Yolk– renowned for its acclaimed brunches since 2013, is making his highly anticipated debut in the town centre with 1650 Coffee Co. The café will take a ground floor unit on Friar’s Walk, neighbouring local hero Siren Craft Brew. 1650 Coffee Co will benefit from an additional entrance in Ebb’s reception in addition to its public entrance on Friars Walk.
1650 Coffee Co will be a true independent artisan coffee house dedicated to delivering an exceptional, hand-crafted coffee experience. Featuring a meticulously curated house blend, along with a selection of premium teas, juices, and gourmet smoothies, every sip and bite will celebrate quality and craftsmanship.
Complementing the coffee, 1650 Coffee Co will offer a delectable selection of freshly baked pastries, artisan sandwiches, and handcrafted cakes.
Beyond great coffee and food, 1650 Coffee Co will champion local artisans and producers, offering a carefully selected range of handmade products and locally sourced delicacies. The cafe will also serve alcoholic beverages, including signature coffee-inspired cocktails, broadening its appeal as an all-day social hub.
Alongside existing F&B outlets Siren Craft Brew, Notes and Kawaii, 1650 Coffee Co and Angelos will benefit from two acres of newly-opened public realm and landscaped areas, enhancing the visitor experience and providing a seamless connection between the mainline station and the town centre as part of a £1.5m investment into landscaping and public art around Station Hill.
Evan Reynolds, development director at Lincoln Property Company UK, commented: “Angelos and 1650 Coffee Co perfectly embody the vibrant, high-quality offering we are bringing to Station Hill. Their arrival underscores our commitment to delivering a best-in-class destination in the heart of Reading. We look forward to seeing those living and working in the area, as well as visitors to the town, explore these new eateries which are set to open later this year. With Phases 1 and 2 of Station Hill now complete and an exciting events strategy in place for 2025 across the estate, occupier interest is stronger than ever. We are hoping to be able to share further tenant updates soon”.
Angelo Colao, managing director of Angelos said: “We are exceptionally excited to be bringing Angelos to Station Hill and joining the vibrant community of the area. Our vision is to create a welcoming space where guests can enjoy the true essence of Italian dining—whether it’s a morning coffee, a leisurely meal or an evening of fine wine and great food pairings. We look forward to sharing our passion for authentic Italian cuisine and exceptional wines with Reading locals and visitors alike. We can’t wait to open our doors and add a taste of Italy to Station Hill.”
Sunny, the founder of 1650 Coffee Co, said: “I’m incredibly excited to introduce 1650 Coffee Co to Station Hill and to become a part of this growing community.
