In a landmark move from a high street retailer, Superdrug is overhauling its high street healthcare proposition and investing £1 million into a new and innovative Healthcare Ambassador programme to better serve the nation’s healthcare needs.
Superdrug’s million-pound Healthcare Ambassador programme has been launched with the customer’s health and wellbeing needs at the very centre of its framework. The programme recognises the nation’s growing demand for greater and more immediate access to valued healthcare expertise. It also reflects the NHS’ focus on its ‘Prevention Programme’ which encourages individuals to take action through supported self-management.
At a time when high street retail is facing challenging issues such as decline in footfall and significant customer shifts to online shopping. Coupled with rising inflation, business rates and National Insurance hikes, Superdrug is bucking the trend and showing its clear commitment and steadfast belief in the ongoing development, innovation and success of its high street healthcare offering.
The new programme will see dedicated members of staff being highly trained across various healthcare categories including Vitamins, Gastro, Medicated Hair and Medicated Skincare. Dedicated employees will be stationed in healthcare aisles across 51 stores, reaching 75 by the end of the year, sharing immediate healthcare advice, support and product recommendations to members of the public. The Healthcare Ambassadors will assist people with their specific healthcare concerns, offering personalised advice and healthcare solutions to help them make more informed decisions to support their own health and wellbeing.
Simon Comins, Superdrug’s chief commercial officer, comments: “In a rapidly changing retail landscape, we are proud to be making a bold investment into the future of high street healthcare. The launch of our £1 million Healthcare Ambassador programme reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting the nation’s health and wellbeing. As high street retailers face unprecedented challenges, we believe that our ability to innovate and evolve is key to staying relevant and providing real value to our customers. By placing healthcare expertise at the heart of our high street stores, we are responding directly to the demand for accessible, immediate and personalised healthcare guidance, empowering customers to make informed decisions about their health. This new programme represents a significant step forward in re-shaping what a high street healthcare retailer can and should be and reinforces our belief in the ongoing success of our healthcare offering in the heart of local communities across the UK.”
With the launch of its Healthcare Ambassador programme, Superdrug is setting a new standard for accessible and reliable healthcare support and advice on the high street. By offering expert healthcare advice and support directly in-store, Superdrug is not only responding to current healthcare needs, but also transforming the ways people access personalised healthcare and advice on the high street.
