The Perfume Shop, the UK’s largest fragrance retailer, announces its 2024 recruitment programme for Christmas Sales Assistants ahead of the festive season. From mid September through to October, The Perfume Shop is launching its Christmas recruitment campaign across 196 stores in the UK in the lead up to Christmas, with over 750 temporary roles paid at the Real Living Wage, plus lots of fantastic benefits.
Approximately 750 Christmas Sales Assistant roles will be available at The Perfume Shop this season. With a comprehensive training programme, Christmas Sales Assistants will be supported to deliver The Perfume Shop’s high service standards including: welcoming customers into the Store, assisting customers to make the perfect gifting perfume choice by sharing their expert knowledge of the wide range of fragrance available,, offering VIP membership benefits and providing gift wrapping services when requested.
Last year The Perfume Shop was able to offer over 250 permanent roles to its Christmas Sales Assistants and will continue to offer permanent roles to temporary staff where available. For many people a temporary Christmas Sales Assistant role is their first taste of employment. For some, it’s been the start of a fantastic career in retail and many Perfume People who have started in The Perfume Shop as a Christmas Sales Assistant have gone on to senior management positions within the business.
The Perfume Shop is proud to ‘Grow its Own’, enabling people to flourish through various learning and development programmes such as apprenticeships, The Fragrance Foundation qualifications, online modules and their very own learner app. The Perfume Shop is committed to helping Perfume People develop their talent, passion and spark to help them grow within the business.
In addition to the Real Living Wage pay rate, The Perfume Shop will also be paying commission to everyone that works in its stores over the Christmas period. On average, Christmas Sales Assistants earned over £150 in commission last year across October, November and December.
For The Perfume Shop, paying the Real Living Wage, plus Commission, to temporary staff is its way of recognising the hard work and exceptional performance of all their store teams at the busiest time of year. Not only that, but The Perfume Shop also offers the same staff discount to their Christmas Sales Assistant as it does permanent staff. With 20% off all their products from day one, plus customer offers on top, staff can treat themselves, and also friends and family this Christmas.
Michelle Fellows, people & development director, says: “At The Perfume Shop we believe in creating the ultimate shopping experience for our customers all year round, but especially during the festive period. We believe in those that have positive energy, talent for team work, passion for perfume and creating a spark with customers. Lots of our store staff over the years have gone on to great success including those that now work in our head office also. This is a fantastic place to work through the festive season and it’s our teams who make it really special for our customers.”
