The Perfume Shop, the UK’s largest fragrance retailer, has announced its recruitment programme for Christmas Sales Assistants ahead of the festive season. From mid-September through to October, The Perfume Shop is driving Christmas recruitment across its 211 stores in the UK in the lead up to Christmas where employees will be paid the Real Living Wage.
It was recently announced that The Perfume Shop secured successful accreditation with the Living Wage Foundation. Christmas Sales Assistants will be paid the Real Living Wage.
Approximately over 700 Christmas Sales Assistant roles will be available for those to apply for at The Perfume Shop this season. Within the role, sales assistants will be trained on various aspects of the business which include: greeting and serving customers, assistance and expert training provided to ensure every customer makes the right perfume choice, offering VIP membership benefits, providing gift wrapping services when requested. These are just a few of the key working traits The Perfume Shop will be looking for when recruiting new members of staff.
Last year The Perfume Shop was able to offer over 200 permanent roles to their fantastic Christmas Sales Assistants and the hope is to be able to offer this again in 2023. It’s been known throughout the years of the Christmas recruitment drive that many great Perfume People who have started their career as a Christmas Sales Assistant have gone on to senior management positions within the business. The Perfume Shop is proud to ‘Grow our Own’, enabling people to flourish through various learning and development programmes such as apprenticeships, The Fragrance Foundation qualifications, online modules and their very own learner app. The Perfume Shop is committed to helping their Perfume People develop their talent, passion and spark to help them grow within the business.
In addition to the Real Living Wage pay rate, The Perfume Shop will also be paying commission to everyone that works in their stores over the Christmas period. The amount is known to be based on the number of hours worked and sales for the individual stores. For The Perfume Shop, this is its way of recognising the hard work and exceptional performance of their store teams at the busiest time of year. Not only that, but The Perfume Shop also offesr a 20% discount on all its products from day one, plus any customer offers on top. Therefore, staff are able to not only treat themselves, but also friends and family this Christmas.
