Committed to making a positive impact on the environment, Triumph underwear has partnered with Oxfam to extend its Together We Grow sustainability program.
By producing take-back boxes placed in independent stores across the UK, customers can donate their preloved items which Oxfam will resell, reuse or recycle to help raise money to tackle poverty across the world and reduce landfill.
A range of pieces can be donated including lightly used or new bras, good condition clean clothes including children’s clothing, vintage clothes and out of season items, shoes in pairs, accessories including bags, non-prescription sunglasses, belt, hats, scarves and gloves, as well as jewellery, watches and hand-made clothes.
Following its continued journey to circularity, Triumph has also partnered with RadiciGroup and The LYRCA Company on a pioneering project that demonstrates how mixed-fibre textiles can be recycled — a breakthrough for the recyclability of blended materials.
Garments made with more than one fibre are typically difficult to recycle, and the more fibres they contain, the less recyclable they become. With its new technology, Radici InNova, the RadiciGroup can now separate and recover both nylon and elastane from these blends, transforming them back into new usable yarns, and as part of this pilot, Triumph provided surplus production fabric for these recycling tests. Once the fibres were recovered and re-spun, Triumph used the new yarns to create the first fully recycled lingerie prototype set (bra + brief) — proving that textile waste can be turned into new garments and bringing circular fashion one step closer to reality.
