2026 marks a major milestone for Vamoosh as the award-winning British home brand celebrates its 10th birthday. What began in 2016 as a solution to one very hairy household problem has grown into a globally recognised, patent-protected innovation business redefining performance within laundry and household cleaning.
Founded by Tom Abbey and Dave Toms, and developed by Cares Laboratory, Vamoosh was inspired by Tom’s black Labrador, Mr Chips, whose relentless shedding exposed a gap in the market: no product existed that could genuinely remove hair from fabrics within the washing machine. After years of development, the breakthrough Vamoosh Pet Hair Dissolver launched commercially in 2017, creating an entirely new sub-category within laundry and quickly establishing itself as a hero product in the UK market.
Since launch, Vamoosh has grown into a nationally listed brand, now stocked in more than 5,000 UK retail outlets across grocery, pet, DIY and value channels, including B&M, The Range, Pets at Home and Asda. The brand’s consistent performance has delivered incremental category value for retail partners through genuine differentiation and strong consumer demand.
A decade in, the brand continues to expand its exciting story with its launch into the United States with Vamoosh securing a listing and launch into Target USA, the major retailer operating across all 50 states. The brand will be launching its renowned Pet Hair Dissolver and Washing Machine Cleaner across 600 stores, with further SKUs and limited editions to be launched throughout 2026. This is a true milestone for the brand and is to become the company’s largest export market within three years.
The scale of success over the past decade is striking. By January 2025 they have sold a staggering 10 million sachets of Pet Hair Dissolver. Reviewing retail sales since launch, the number of Vamoosh Pet Hair Dissolver boxes sold tells a powerful story:
If the boxes sold were stacked one on top of another, they would reach:
- 450 kilometres into the sky
- The height of 1,425 Eiffel Towers,
- 538 London Shards
- 1,500 Big Bens
- And stretch well beyond the International Space Station
If laid end-to-end:
- They would span 449.8 km
- The equivalent of travelling London to Newcastle
- Or running 10.7 marathons
- Enough to build a bridge from England to France, more than a dozen times
At the heart of this growth is their category creating, science-led innovation. The Vamoosh Pet Hair Dissolver remains the first and only patented laundry product proven to dissolve both pet and human hair in the washing machine, using an active oxygenated reaction to break down keratin at source. The innovation was recognised with the prestigious Queen’s Award for Innovation in 2022 and is now protected by patents in 43 countries worldwide.
Building on this platform, Vamoosh has expanded into adjacent problem-solving solutions, including its Washing Machine Cleaner, the only cleaner on the market that can also dissolve hair. In 2023 the brand launched it’s first fragranced version with their Sparkling Lemon WMC. This became a strong favourite among influencers and consumers alike due to it’s lemon scent which for many is associated with a fresh, clean feeling. To date, it is the strongest performing Washing Machine Cleaner product from the range on Amazon. 2025 saw the launch of their first limited edition products with the Washing Machine Cleaner launching in Tropical Paradise in June and Spiced Apple in time for the holidays in September, both hugely successful with consumers.
The brand also champions its chlorine bleach-free, septic tank safe Plughole Unblocker, which also utilises the brand’s hair dissolving technology. The brand has also further diversified with the launch of Vamoosh Wash & Dye, a ready-to-use in-drum solution designed to restore faded black garments in one wash. In 2025, Vamoosh also launched their Dishwasher Cleaner, designed to dissolve food scraps as well as deep clean appliances. This product uses active oxygen to dissolve food scraps.
The brand started 2026 with the introduction of three new product SKUs: Vamoosh Hair Shield Fabric Conditioner, developed with advanced hair-repelling technology to reduce hair cling, from clothing, at a microscopic level, Rapid Stain Wipes, plant-based, biodegradable wipes delivering instant, visible stain removal without water or prewashing, and Fabric Whitener Sheets, powered by advanced dissolving technology to evenly distribute whitening agents throughout the wash, helping to maintain bright whites and prolong garment freshness. Together, these launches reinforce Vamoosh’s position as a brand that identifies overlooked frustrations and delivers highly targeted, practical solutions.
International growth has accelerated rapidly. Exports began in 2018, just one year after commercial launch. Since then, overseas sales have increased by 440% in three years with products now sold in more than 30 countries including Australia, Germany, South Africa, the Nordics and now the USA. In the past 12 months alone, export growth reached 103% year-on-year and the distributor network expanded from four to twelve partners.
As the business scales, Cares Laboratory has continued to invest in technical capability to underpin future innovation. In January 2026, the company appointed Claire White as Technical Manager, bringing 18 years of experience in cleaning and chemical formulation to strengthen product development, regulatory excellence and pipeline acceleration. The appointment signals the company’s commitment to maintaining its science-led differentiation as it enters its second decade.
Alongside commercial growth, Vamoosh has built strong brand equity through influencer advocacy, media appearances and third-party endorsements, while maintaining its cruelty-free credentials and long-term charitable partnership with Support Dogs, raising over £20,000 for the organisation to date.
Reflecting on the milestone, Tom Abbey, commented: “Ten years ago, we set out to solve one simple but frustrating problem in our own home. Today, Vamoosh is helping millions of households tackle everyday cleaning challenges with science-backed solutions that genuinely work. We are incredibly proud of the growth we’ve achieved with our retail and distribution partners across the UK and internationally. As we enter our second decade, our focus remains clear, continued innovation, global expansion and delivering meaningful category value.”
From a single patented innovation inspired by one Labrador to a globally distributed cleaning brand protected in 43 countries and stocked in over 5,000 UK stores, Vamoosh’s first ten years demonstrate the power of focused innovation, retailer collaboration and science-led problem solving. The next chapter promises even greater scale, continued category disruption and a pipeline of solutions designed to make stubborn household frustrations simply, Vamoosh.
