Coinstar MachinesMarie Curie, the UK’s leading end of life charity, has been named as one of Coinstar’s official charity partners.

This is the first new charity partner for Coinstar in recent years, and the collaboration will enable customers to donate spare change to Marie Curie via participating Coinstar machines.

Coinstar machines are located in over 2,000 supermarkets across the UK and offer a quick and easy way to convert coins into charity donations. The partnership represents a significant opportunity to raise awareness and funds for Marie Curie – enabling the charity to continue providing care and support to people at end of life, and those close to them.

As part of the partnership, UK Coinstar machines featured Marie Curie-branded screens throughout March and will continue to do so until the end of April.

Marie Curie will remain available as a selectable charity option on Coinstar machines all year round, meaning members of the public can donate their spare change at any time. All customers need to do is pour in their mixed coins and follow the on-screen instructions to support Marie Curie’s crucial work.

Sarah Chappell, business development manager at Coinstar, said: “Coinstar is incredibly proud to welcome Marie Curie as our first new charity partner in recent years. As the UK’s leading end of life care charity, Marie Curie represents a charity sector not previously supported at Coinstar UK. We know our customers will be delighted to have the opportunity to donate to such a vital cause, and we are very much looking forward to bringing this partnership to life.”

Marie Curie helps people with any illness they are likely to die from including Alzheimer’s (and other forms of dementia), heart, liver, kidney and lung disease, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s, and advanced cancer.

Clare Mills, regional partnerships Lead at Marie Curie, said: “Living with a terminal illness is a rollercoaster of practical needs and emotions. However, nearly one in three people die without the care and support they need. Every pound raised for Marie Curie helps us take a step towards improving end of life care in the UK.

“It’s thanks to our amazing supporters that Marie Curie can continue providing our expertise in people’s own homes, in our hospices, over the phone, and in other places of care. Donations also help fund our free Information and Support line (0800 090 2309), which is available to anyone seeking support in relation to dying, death, or bereavement”.
