Fastest growing shots brand UNROOTED is launching its new High Fibre Breakfast Smoothies into the UK this month.
The launch comes as the wellness market continues to evolve, with shoppers increasingly looking for convenient products that deliver a clear nutritional benefit alongside great taste.
Despite growing awareness of gut health and the importance of fibre, 96% of UK adults still fall short of the recommended 30g daily fibre intake, with average consumption at just 16g per day.
Delivering 6g of fibre in every smoothie, 20% of the recommended daily intake, alongside vitamins C and D and calcium, UNROOTED’s new launch aims to bridge the fibre gap with a format designed around how UK shoppers are increasingly shopping for functional nutrition: convenient, portable and easy to consume.
With protein pouches and yoghurts growing as mainstream functional formats, the High Fibre Breakfast Smoothies bring the same convenience to fibre, creating a new grab-and-go breakfast occasion.
Bringing fibre to a new breakfast occasion
At the heart of each pouch isAt the heart of each pouch is 20% baobab puree, an African superfruit which contains seven times more fibre than oats and six times more vitamin C than oranges. UNROOTED uses wild-harvested baobab, connecting its functional credentials with the brand’s focus on sustainability and responsible sourcing.
The smoothies contain no added sugar and are dairy-free, naturally vegan, nut-free and gluten-free. They are also in a flexible monomaterial (single layer) plastic pouch that’s designed to sip and squeeze on the go, and easy to recycle kerbside. Each smoothie is also only between 62 and 66 calories per smoothie, making them a high-fibre but low-in-calorie option.
The launch follows UNROOTED’s Good Fibre Sachets that hit shelves earlier this year and have become the only fibre supplement to win a Mumsnet-rated badge, providing shoppers with 3.2g fibre (11% RDA) in every sachet thanks to the inclusion of baobab that can be found in every UNROOTED product including their dosing bottles and single shots.
Three flavours, one functional format
The range launches in three flavours:
- Strawberry, Raspberry & Baobab: strawberries, raspberries and apples with wild African baobab fruit
- Mango, Pineapple & Baobab: mango, pineapple, apple and passion fruit with wild African baobab
- Peach, Ginger & Baobab: peach and apple with ginger juice and wild African baobab
It will begin its roll out in Tesco Northern Ireland this month. The range will also be available through Amazon and Unrooteddrinks.com to UK shoppers from the 14th September, as well as via Brakes, Office Pantry and Wholefoods Wholesale Ireland in September.
David Thompson, buying manager – dairy and front of store, Northern Ireland, Tesco, said: “Fibre is having its moment, and UNROOTED has created a high fibre product that stands out in the chiller. The new grab and go pouches answer shopper demand for convenience as well as a tasty breakfast solution that brings nutritional benefits to the morning routine.”
Nathan Clemes, founder of UNROOTED added: “Fibre is one of the biggest nutritional gaps in the UK, yet it’s still difficult to find convenient, great-tasting ways to get more of it. Building on the success of our other baobab boosted products, we’ve innovated to bring a breakfast format that gives retailers something unique and stand out on shelf, and easy, convenient and nutritious for the shopper.”
