WASABI unveils brand-new summer menu, Omakase style

WASABIWasabi, the leading Sushi and Bento restaurant group, known for its vibrant, freshly prepared Japanese food, is bringing an exciting twist to the table this summer, launching its brand-new menu. Forget your usual choice of meal, as this season Wasabi invites customers on a culinary journey, the Omakase way.

Translating to “I’ll leave it up to you” in Japanese, the new Omakase experience invites consumers to enjoy a curated journey of seven tasting elements, crafted to take you on a flavour adventure. Perfect for both sushi enthusiasts and those new to Japanese cuisine, the box is designed to be enjoyed in a specific order, beginning with a light Edamame Bean Salad, before moving onto more complex Asian flavours.

Served with a selection of flavoursome Ponzu Dressing, Wasabi & Yuzu mayonnaise, Soya Sauce and Wasabi, the crave-worthy components include a mouthwatering Tuna Dragon Roll, containing shredded cucumber, avocado, and a masterpiece finish of ultra-luxurious yellowfin tuna thinly sliced and draped on top.

Other decadent dishes in the Wasabi Omakase Box include fresh tuna and salmon nigiri, crisp Asian slaw and pickled daikon, and the finale piece is a spicy tuna inari pocket with an array of hosomaki rolls dipped in a special citrusy ponzu dressing. Tucked into bespoke packaging with gold foiling, the boxes are given an embossed Tokubetsu sticker – because something this special deserves to stand out.

Florence Gardner-Hillman, Wasabi food product developer, commented: “Wasabi’s summer menu for this year was developed based on a couple of themes that we identified in the market, including specialness and unique flavours, along with experiential-led dining on the rise, we applied this to our Asian heritage as a brand. Omakase was the perfect answer to these trends, in order to allow consumers the opportunity to experience a range of sushi options. The summer menu also champions tuna that we will be bringing back into the range with a multitude of showcase products.”

This gourmet to-go box offers customers the experience of a premium tasting menu in a convenient and accessible format – ideal for those who want to enjoy a little luxury on the go. More seasonal stars joining the summer lineup include:

  • Jewelled Donburi – a colourful rice bowl containing diced salmon and tuna, pickled daikon radish, alongside brand new garnishes being sold just for this season – a stand-out wasabi yuzu mayo, a citrusy ponzu dressing and delicate salmon broth pearls.
  • Tuna Dragon Roll – a chumaki roll of shredded cucumber and avocado draped with pieces of yellowfin tuna.
  • Prawn Crunch Dragon Roll – a chumaki roll of fried prawn and avocado blanketed in five garnishes of teriyaki glaze, wasabi yuzu mayo, fried onions, salmon pearls and chives.
  • California Potto – a vibrant and indulgent creation, formed of succulent crab, salmon, avocado and rice

Fan favourites also return, including the colourful Rainbow Set — now enhanced with the addition of two tuna nigiri pieces — and the ever-popular Tuna Hosomaki – refreshed and ready for summer.

Wasabi’s new menu is available to purchase in all branches across the UK, for a limited time only this summer. Customers can also join the free Wasabi Rewards Program, allowing them to earn rewards with every visit, also earning double points across the new menu range all summer long. The app is available to download at wasabi.uk.com/wasabi-rewards.
