Cash Access UK, the organisation set up to protect access to cash across the UK, has confirmed the banking hub in Heywood has opened in its permanent home at a custom-built site in the Morrisons in Times Retail Park.
The official opening will take place on Friday 23rd October at 10am, with Mrs Elsie Blundell, MP for Heywood and Middleton North attending to cut the ribbon. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Customers of all major banks will be able to visit the hub any weekday between 9am-5pm to carry out regular cash transactions including cash withdrawals and deposits as well as checking balances or paying bills. Additionally, the hub also offers a community bank service where customers can talk to their own bank in a private space about more complicated issues on the day their bank is in the hub:
Monday: Santander
Tuesday: Barclays
Wednesday: Lloyds, Halifax, Bank of Scotland
Thursday: NatWest
Friday: HSBC
Heywood’s banking hub was recommended by LINK, the UK’s ATM network, following the closure of the town’s last remaining bank branch. While the site for the permanent hub was being refurbished, a hub was opened at a temporary location at the Heywood Post Office. This location has now closed.
The hub at the Morrisons site provides a sustainable, long-term solution and offers all the same services as the temporary hub. It is accessible, close to other amenities, a short distance from the high street and provides free parking.
There are now eight hubs open in Greater Manchester. Another hub is in progress in Cheetham Hill.
Gareth Oakley, CEO at Cash Access UK: “I’m happy to announce the opening of our Heywood hub, at a custom-built site in the Morrisons carpark, ensuring crucial access to cash and face-to-face banking services for residents and businesses across the community.
In some locations, it can be challenging to find a suitable property that meets all the requirements for a hub, so we’re really delighted to have developed an innovative and sustainable solution for the community.
Customers can visit Monday to Friday for their everyday banking transactions, and if you have a specific or more complex enquiry for your bank, a community banker will be there to help on the day they’re in the hub. A huge thank you to the team at Heywood Post Office for hosting us while we searched for this permanent home.”
Alice Chapman, manager of financial services at Morrisons, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Cash Access UK to bring a permanent banking hub to Heywood. Having a dedicated facility at our Times Retail Park site will give residents and businesses a convenient way to manage their day-to-day banking needs close to home. As an important service for many people in the area, we’re pleased to help create a long-term solution that supports the local community.”
