Affiliate marketing growing stronger across different industries

Affiliate marketing has proven to be a successful business strategy, where businesses get their products in front of new audiences at an affordable cost. For this type of marketing campaign, a company will work with an affiliate marketer who promotes the brand’s products or services on their own website, blog, or social channels. They will include a link, called an affiliate link, in their content that directs to the brand’s website. If someone purchases the product through the link, the affiliate marketer will get a commission.

Affiliate marketing is a booming industry in the UK. In 2023, almost £21 billion in revenue was generated through affiliate marketing campaigns, and £1.7 billion was invested by companies. This strategy is used across many different industries, with some relying more on this type of marketing than others.

The retail and e-commerce industry relies heavily on affiliate marketing to get products seen. Retailers in fashion, jewellery, accessories, homeware, appliances, and decor are all using affiliate marketers to access new markets. The affiliates commonly use social media, like TikTok or Instagram, to post short videos reviewing an item or sharing their new purchase. They then include a link in the post description, and will get a commission each time someone purchases the product through their link. The benefit of this type of marketing is that it appears authentic. The influencer’s review of the product will likely be beneficial, and consumers will find that the brand can be trusted.

Another industry that successfully uses affiliate marketing is the iGaming industry. iGaming affiliate networks bring together online casino operators and marketers who want to promote casino games on their platforms. The type of content posted is usually blogs reviewing specific sites or games, or live streaming of the affiliate playing casino games (source: https://ghostpartners.com/). When a new user signs up for the casino using the affiliate’s link or promo code, the affiliate will earn a commission or referral bonus.

The personal finance sector is also surprisingly doing well in the affiliate marketing industry. It’s a profitable niche for marketers who have the correct knowledge to provide advice. Topics can include budgeting, investing, managing debts, and saving, and often it is software or smartphone applications that are being promoted.

The health and wellness sector has embraced affiliate marketers to reach new audiences. There are plenty of personal trainers, life coaches, and nutrition experts looking to partner with reputable brands online. They provide trusted advice and often mention supplements or workout equipment in their content. Since they look so healthy, viewers believe the products must be contributing, and are quick to click the affiliate links.

The travel industry has also become highly dependent on affiliates. Airlines, tour companies, cruisliners, hotels, and booking sites have all changed their marketing strategies to include affiliate marketing. These marketers post their experiences abroad first-class flights and five-star hotels, telling their followers that they can also enjoy these luxuries.

Affiliate marketing is a strategy that will continue to grow and encompass more industries, in part due to the uptake of AI-powered affiliate marketing. From DIY and crafts to pet insurance and legal consulting, businesses across various sectors will be able to benefit from cost-effective, low-risk affiliate marketing campaigns.
