Mobile Phones Direct, part of the AO family, becomes the UK's first online retailer to stock ‘as new’ mobile phones

AO.com AO has become the UK’s first online retailer to stock ‘as new’ mobile phones through its Mobile Phones Direct brand, offering a wide range of Apple handsets alongside a huge range of brand new ones.

MobilePhonesDirect.com – which became part of the AO family in 2019 – has unveiled a popular selection of “as new” mobiles, which are available on contract and handset deals.

Products include the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, iPhone SE and iPhone 12 with other models being made available by the day, helping shoppers save up to £125 when compared to buying brand new handsets.

The phones are an ‘As New’ standard, meaning they are indistinguishable from the brand-new models, being delivered in recyclable brown packaging rather than a standard, branded box.

Each of the ‘as new’ iPhones come from official Apple factories with a 12-month warranty. Customers can also benefit from free next day delivery, seven days a week.

Many of the UK’s leading networks are also available as part of the contract options, including O2, Three and Vodafone.

Scott Hooton, AO’s mobile director, said: “There is huge demand right now for more cost-effective options when it comes to upgrading or replacing mobile phones, so we’re thrilled to be the first online retailer to launch this special new range of ‘as new’ phones for UK customers.

“There’s a lot of pressure on household budgets, but consumers are still keen to keep up with the latest in technology, including mobile phones, which are an essential part of everyday life.

“That’s why we’re offering our customers an attractive price point, with our as new phone deals being, on average, between £72 and £120 over a 24 month contract cheaper than “brand new” equivalents.”

Mobile Phones Direct is currently offering “as new” Apple iPhone 13s for as little as £30 per month with a small upfront cost across a range of mobile providers, with the iPhone SE available for just £16 per month with no upfront cost.

Scott continues: “These factors combined mean that people want to be sure they’re getting a good deal from any big-ticket purchase like a mobile phone, which is where ‘as new’ models offer more choice for customers.”

“’As new’ mobile phones offer a significant saving compared to the price of a brand-new mobile phone,” added Scott. “The phones are an ‘As New’ standard – the only difference is that these phones come in recycled brown packaging, compared to a standard, branded box.”

“As new mobile phones also tick a lot of boxes when it comes to making a more sustainable, environmentally friendly purchase. For example, these iPhones have been returned by customers because of potential faults but have then been rebuilt by official Apple factories to exactly the same standard. They also come with a warranty meaning customers are always protected.

“We’re excited to be the first in the UK to bring these products to market providing consumers with a cost-effective and more environmentally-friendly option for investing in new technology at a time when these considerations are more important than ever.”

MobilePhonesDirect.co.uk has helped more than 1.5 million customers over the past 30 years and has a UK-based customer service team available 7 days a week.
